Netflix- The Killer at Large. Good watch.

I think it was created in 2008 but still is a good documentary about obesity. It really goes into how bad the control is of our corporate lobbies on our government officials. The chef who tried to get the kids more involved with growing your food and being part of the process looks like a good direction to go. That is almost mandatory in countries in eastern europe with kids helping during harvest times and having fresh fruit/vegetables brought to the schools cafeterias. It is not really freedom from stopping a high schooler to stop eating a pizza hut pizza slice dipped in chemical ranch sauce with a bottle of pepsi everyday for a entire school year though. I did myself eat a whopper or chicken sandwich everyday for lunch for about 3 years in high school and did not get diabetes. If I would of been forced to eat a better balanced and more nutritious meal inside the school I would of looking back probably felt much better in the afternoons. I am going through a sugar war with a little addict at home right now. There is noway I am going to let her let herself go like the 12 year old in this film. Probably a uphill battle but I am at least somewhat informed. The parents protesting in the film and giving kids pop and chemical cookies I think will be dealing with teenage diabetics in the coming years.

Either I have some sort of unknown health problem, or I'm fat because of processed foods. I can't afford fresh stuff really. I just get stuff that can be microwaved. I ride a bike to and from work every day so I get plenty of exercise.

Fresh stuff is not that expensive. Especially when you compare actual cooked portions to what comes from a box in the end.

Your excercise is an activity, nothing more. It is not progressive, you are doing the same distance every day. Maybe if you tracked your time or did it with print intervals then that would be one thing. Also mindless droning cardio does little to really change your shape. Cardio like that unfortunately burns away muscle as well as fat. In fact cardio encourages the body to keep a certain degree of fat stores for long activity energy needs. If you want to change things you need to look at HIT style systems. Progressively increasing strength/resistence training designed to induce an adaptive response in your body.

I was same way for years. High school was Burger King, Taco Bell or potato chips and bologna sandwiches. College was whatever mom cooked on top of all the fast food, beer, pop and pizza weekends. So at 23-25 I started to slowly but surely develope the big round beer gut. Lost that big sucker in three months on a high carb/low fat diet but it crept up slowly years later after a sit down job. Now a major change in diet and being slightly more active has put me back to normal for over a year and half. Even being this militant in my diet you are still constantly being tempted or fooled with processed crap, ingredients, gmo etc..

Growing your own vegetables is great and also farmers markets. Smaller markets also sometimes have better deals then the big discount chains. After eating fresh vegetables for awhile now I barely touch anything canned other then maybe pickels/olives. I will eat it but fresh is just where it is at. Even storebought pickels verses homemade taste like they are salt sticks.

Absolutely. You should search for local farmer's markets in your area. Eat fresh, eat local.

I've been really working on my health for this year and am down 40 pounds so far. This is what gets me...... All the processed foods and salt. Tons of freaking salt in everything.

I cook my wife and I's dinner for the week on Sunday's and pop it in the freezer in bags. Saves a ton of time and its real fresh food, quickly.

It does piss me off because they could do simple things like reduce salt and put vinegar in foods. The taste is virtually the same in blind studies and no one thought it was gross in a test done at a Uni in England. I consume about 1500 mg of sodium a day this way and its freaking tasty
