White House Honey Ale Recipe Petition: Press Secretary Jay Carney Says 'Sign It'

A petition asking 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to release its Honey Ale recipe (one of their three beers) has been submitted on the White House website, and Thursday night Press Secretary Jay Carney tweeted that if it reached the 25,000-signature threshold, the White House would release the goods:
Got a Q today on @wethepeople petition asking us to share WH beer recipe: http://t.co/ae7HpeVt If it reaches the threshold, we'll release it
    -------------

Release the recipe for the Honey Ale home brewed at the White House.

Following in the footsteps of great men like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin, Barack Obama has reportedly been enjoying the rewards of home brewed beer. Recent reports from news outlets like the Washington Post (August 15th, 2012) have stated that Obama has been drinking a White House home brew Honey Ale while on the campaign trail.

In keeping with the brewing traditions of the founding fathers, homebrewers across America call on the Obama Administration to release the recipe for the White House home brew so that it may be enjoyed by all.

    "I think it’s time for beer” -Franklin D. Roosevelt (March 12, 1933)

Wait..........do they have a permit to make the amounts they brew.............and............... do they have a license to carry it across state lines (while on the campaign trail)

Mind you……I could have cared less until they started harassing my snus supply……..now I care….and want to know

No permits are required to homebrew in my state. You can homebrew all you want as long as it's for personal consumption only. You can even transport your homebrew to enjoy in private settings (20 gallons per person, per transport - Senate Bill 5060)

          I forgot to post this...

Might I suggest tweaking the recipe by using Icelandic Malt Extrakt?

If there are are any experienced homebrewers on here, be sure to try it out and let us know how it tastes!

Wasn't releasing the recipe a cynical electioneering ploy seeing as the other guy is a mormon and doesn't drink? To ingratiate Obama with the average Joe?

I don't think so. He's been spotted drinking beer a few times, and an average joe started a petition to get the recipes released. It reached it's goal, and they released it. I think Obama was the first person to have beer brewed at the white house.

Also, inb4 some company starts making a commercial version.

Not hardly bro...well, maybe beer, but George Washington had a whiskey still at the white house. Many of our fore fathers brewed their own ;-) I'm cool with Obama bringing it back.

Wait wait, Mitt Romney doesn't drink? Who would trust someone who doesn't drink?! :O

Edit : It's important to note that I don't trust him anyways... I think it might be his hair that seems a bit off - That and his politics.

These guys say the curators couldn't find any evidence of any brewing in the actual white house, but Washington did make whiskey at Monticello.

                              Right on!

I think I'll take a stab at this... I've never homebrewed before. It's time consuming, but it sounds fun at the same time.
