Anyone have experience with these? My closet of an apartment looked dreary so I bought one of these.
Just bought a betta fish.

Bettas are cool and very low maintenance. Good starter fish. I don't have fish anymore but I had a big ol tank with oscars and other assorted varieties that the oscar wouldn't harass too much. Domesticated fish are cool and wild fish are tasty. This is why I never eat a farm raised fish. Anyway if you manage to love your beta and eventually get some room for a real tank, totally look into oscars as they are very charismatic highly trainable and intelligent. Kind of the Crows of the fish world........
You can feed em bad ass things too.
actually surprised there aren't more. When I owned my fish it was before youtube. I had a clicker they would respond to and after awhile I could get them to jump out of the water thru hoops. Anyways they are cool from the get go just watching them annihilate their food. Pretty cool if you ask me...... They will recognize and respond to you pretty quickly.....

I'm not sure of the "pink things", I seem to get plenty of those in my car and truck, but I do have a small domesticated herd of frogs living around my pond. But I have fish in there too and they gotta do what they gotta do! I have never seen feeder mice for a fish before, snakes and reptiles yeah. It was quick and seemingly painless.wiki "Popcorn Sutton" a true COOT!

My wife took our 3 year old daughter into town today and while they were out they stopped at the pet store to look at the kittens and puppies. Well, my daughter wanted to bring home a kitten but my wife knew I wouldn't be happy about that at all. Instead they bought a red beta. My daughter named him "Silly Bum".
I don't know much about them other than they are pretty cool looking and they are supposedly pretty resilient.

Put a mirror next to them. DON'T
I had one when I lived in an apartment. It lived in a big vase under a water lily with glass stones in the bottom.
I never really fed it. I just left a gallon of water out for a few days every other week to let the chlorine out of it. I had a little eye dropper of water conditioner that I added to it called Prime. I'd fish him out of his vase, rinse the pebbles off in a colander, change the water and put it all back together. The biggest pain was trimming the roots of the lily. They would crowd up the vase.
The plant was resting on a plastic lid from a dairy queen cup with holes in it. So the roots went into the water but the whole plant wouldn't drop into the vase.
Mine was blue. He was a mean little bastard. If you pointed your finger at him he'd try to attack it through the glass. He never stopped swimming either. Like a little hyper shark.
One of the easiest pets ever.
I don't remember how long he lived, but it was at least two years. I had betta food, but I never really fed him. He nibbled the roots or something.
