I love sardines How bout you?

I've been on a canned fish spree. I started to get naturally occuring omegas but I forgot how much i love these little buggers. I have been mostly consuming sprats which are packaged as "brisling" sardines by king oscar. But I found these adro smoked sprats in the ethnic isle that are far better and cost less and contain more. Love me some kippers as well. About to buy both in bulk from amazon as they have a really cheap price on polar kippers which are awesome as well. Anybody else love this food from the gods?

I have them sometimes. Either with mustard sauce or with hot sauce. They go well on Wasa knackerbrod which I eat quite often with other fish. On occasion I will make my own Gravlax or we do this cream cheese salmon spread from canned salmon that is really good.

I eat sardines with tomato sauce when I'm on a long stretch of nights for the vit D.

The French Foreign Legion used to live pretty much solely on sardines.

I never buy them pre-sauced adds a shit load of stuff you don't really want or need. But I definitely love them with some self applied hot sauce or whole grain mustard. My Mom went to Alaska about a year ago and brought me some awesome smoked canned salmon sockey wild caught, best I've ever had. I think it was pricey tho even in Alaska. If I'm remembering right it was captain Jim's brand. yeah it was after a quick google this is the stuff. http://riverboatdiscovery.com/Search...?CategoryID=44
I have a can left as I've been savoring it. I hope it shows up on Amazon cheaper some day.......

I'm a fan. Smoked is my favorite, but I'll eat just about any kind. I'm a fan of tinned fish in general. Brunswick kippered herring is one of my favorites.

Love smoked kippers, love natural, no sauce added sardines (esp on pizza) and baked into focaccia bread, simply divine!

:^D Yup. The cats get to clean the tin when I'm finished. The girl's more interested than the boy. In general, she's more interested in life. She checks out everything new to see if it suits her. She cleans my cereal bowls, and she's a much better hunter. The boy only gets interested when he sees his sister interested. Otherwise, he tends to stick to the same old routine.

I've really become somewhat of a snob. I only like the sprats or "brisling" Can't even think about some that only fit 3-4 in a can anymore. It's a big difference guys. Search out smoked sprats in the european ethnic section of your grocer. Oh I will eat the king oscar mediterranean style as it's just tomato and olive and stuff. they are quite good.... still have an issue with the artificial smoke flavoring but they're good every once in awhile for a change......

The best I had was some brand from France. I got them at BigLots. They were packed in olive oil, and the one I liked best had whole chilis inside the tin. I got some sprats from Scotland once, but tbh, I prefer the Brunswick herring. I agree regarding smoke flavor. The Brunswick is mellow, and natural tasting, but I've had some brands that go too far. I like the smoked salmon that comes packed in mylar envelopes in boxes. You see it pop up around Xmas time. I'll usually get a pack then, and hope some stick around BigLots long enough to go on clearance. You can get it for less than 50ยข per ounce if you're lucky.

I'll eat an entire package, if you let me:
