Sounds tasty! The only thing that would make it better is to cook it with some herbal butter or oil.

Maybe a little bit of a honey oil for dessert as well? Sounds good to me.

Yeah I love them too. Also like the smoked baby oysters but wish I could find some without the cottonseed oil. The sardines I've been getting recently are these ones:

They are so big there are only 3 in a can usually (but the can is stuffed). I've also been getting the albacore and skipjack tuna of theirs and it's great. I really like smoked salmon as well but I'm a bit spoiled since my friend recently gave me a bunch he caught and smoked himself. Makes the store bought (even the hella expensive) ones kinda humdrum tasting.

Smoked oysters = pure win. I buy a few tins of them every week, and binge on them.

KING OSCAR and baltic canned are my favorite. I stay away from anything that comes from Alaska or the Pacific. Straight from the can at 3am with no light is the best

I love fish and seafood in all forms; fresh, smoked, gravad, tinned, pickled, also rotten! Yes, even surstromming is lovely!

Thanks to Aldi, Lidl and Eastern European shops variety is pretty good here now. I also have two fishmongers in walking distance.

I was just thinking the same thing! Most people are repulsed by stinky, salty fish in a tin. Then again, most people are repulsed by stinky, salty tobacco in a tin

Just wondering. Are you avoiding the Pacific because of Fukishima radiation? That would be a valid concern IMO. The Wild Planet ones I've been getting are the best I've ever had but I might have to see if I can find some good ones from elsewhere. Wild Planet has some that come from the California Coast and some that are processed in Vietman. Both taste excellent. I just tried a can of Beach Cliff (product of Poland). They were nice and big, but the flesh was white and slimy and they had no flavor. I'll give the King Oscar's a go. I think I'll source some fresh ones as well.

Any other suggestions appreciated.

Seek out riga gold smoked sprats if you can't find them riga sprats are nearly just as good. Like I said before they are small fish which I prefer. Naturally smoked and a product of latvia where they take the tinned fish appreciation to a whole other level http://latviansonline.com/sprats/ I've found them around me for about $2 a can which has to be opened with an opener and contains almost 6 ozs. Next time I open a can I will take some pics. Seriously these are the best i've ever had and I've tried pretty much all I can get my hands on..... Check the european section in your supermarket or better yet find a small european deli/grocer.

I'll look out for them. I wonder if they cleared up their dispute with Russia. If not, it might be a good time to horde fishies. Limited market=lower price :^)
