My band's new album - sneak preview

    Hello there,

You may know me from such threads as: "I'm making some of my own snus, look at me, look at me!" and "guess what's in my mouth now" ... but I also sometimes do other things.

My main job is being a squeezebox player in several outfits - and the biggest of them is a folk-prog band called Bellowhead ... and we've got a new album coming out next week. I'm not on here advertising it per se, I'm just really proud of how this one's turned out and it's currently streaming live on the Guardian website for free as a marketing thing.

If you're interested - have a listen - the free stream is at:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musi...ILCMUSTXT9387-

I assume the link is live until the album is officially released on monday October 15th - but it may carry on beyond that.

It would be interesting to get some feed-back from fellow snusers!

    Cheers

Squeezy (yeah I know - hence the name!)

WOW Squeezy thats great. Do I hear bits of Jethro Tull in there?

    great job mate
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

      Well actually yes PP!

Barriemore Barlow - drummer with Tull plays the gong at the beginning of track 10! The producer mixed the album at his home studios.

      That's very well spotted

      Cheers

I'm digging it. The horn arrangements are a nice touch. Do you guys tour at all? I think you'd do well on the festival circuit over here. Not sure how well it pays, but I think you'd be popular.

Yes we tour... a lot! ... we've never yet done the US due to much more complicated labour laws than most other countries. But we did the Canadian festival circuit in 08 and 09 and it went down really well.

But it's definitely something we'd do if it didn't actually cost us money.

The main problem with US tours is that unless you pay an extortion (they call it fast-track) fee of $1000 per person and show up and queue at the US embassy in London (our band is an 11 piece outfit from all over the UK) - they won't guarantee your working visa in the sort of time frame you need to plan a tour. That's a fact - they make it as difficult as possible for us to come and work there - I have nightmare stories of fellow musicians setting up US tours over a year in advance and having to cancel because they didn't get the visa in time and couldn't afford the money.

You need serious financial backing to take an 11 piece to the USA. I think we're almost there with the record company - but I won't promise anything.

If we do make it over - any SnusOn members in the states are welcome to guest tickets though. As you guys would say - it would be awesome to meet up with you guys at some time.

          Cheers

I hope it happens squeezy. I used to go to tons of festivals, but quit when money got tight. I'd definitely make it out to see you guys though :^)

Thanks Ansel - I saw that review - but I didn't have such a nice record of it as a digitised version.

                Cheers

I hope it happens too LX - I'd love an excuse to come to Maryland ... In the UK the name is synonymous with high quality chocolate chip cookies!
