    Hunting Thread

Are there any other hunters here?

I've been hunting for a few years now, and I love it. About 80% of the hunting that I do is deer hunting.

I have two current setups for deer right now. Bow & Modern Rifle .

    Bow:
    Mission Mathews Riot (2012)
    30.5" Draw Length
    50 lbs Draw Weight

    Rifle:
    Remington 700 270.
    Leupold VX6 2-12x42
    Synthetic Stock

The season is young, and here in Kentucky bow season has begun! I'm a new guy when it comes to bow hunting, but it's a hell of a lot of fun. If you've never tried it, I highly recommend it. I haven't taken any deer this season, yet.

I was out for early muzzleloader season for deer this morning, the first day in PA. I had no luck today, but any day in the woods is a good day. Been hunting all my life.

Amen, good stuff bro! Bow & Muzzle loader season has been open for about 2 weeks now (if I remember correctly), out here in Kentucky. Good luck this season, I hope you get a monster buck!

I hunt deer, used to bow hunt before the shoulder started acting up, I hunt the muzzleloading and general gun seasons though. May invest in a cross bow for archery next year but its pretty warm during the archery season and the older I get the less I like being in a tree when its hot and muggy.

I want to hunt. I fish. Lots of deer around here but I don't think it's legal to kill them. I think it's OK to kill the raccoons and they been pissin' me off lately. I hope to do some hunting soon.

Been hunting since I was 12. I mostly just hunt for deer now. I did a little bow hunting in my college years (Pearson Spoiler). I started out with a 30-30 Marlin. My regular deer gun now is a Rem 700 .280 with a 3-9 Bushnell. Nice light gun but I would not want to use it in a target shooting competition. Kicks like a mule and by the 3rd shot the lightweight barrel gets warm enough to start spreading the group out. Awesome for hunting though.

I don't blame you there. Muggy weather is terrible, and it's even worse when the mosquitoes are eating you alive! If you're still interested in bow hunting and can't do it because of your shoulder, get yourself a crossbow. Bow season is great.

Northern California has great hunting, as well as fishing. I don't think it would be a difficult drive if you wanted to head up there and do a bit of hunting if you were interested.

A 30-30 is a great deer rifle, as is a .280. I've never fired a .280, but it's a popular hunting caliber. Good luck this season!

I walked into the woods this morning around 6.30, and made it into my blind. Perfect weather, around 64 degrees, overcast, and cloudy. Stayed out there until about 10.00 am, and jumped up an 8 point buck on my way out. Sadly, didn't get a chance to get it. Guess I'll be back out there this evening.

It's true. Just need to get around to it. Too many hobbies right now. Yeah I know, lame excuse. One of these days!
