Just an update, this stuff is incredible. If any if you have anxiety issues, seriously this blows it away. Together with tobacco, this combo should be prescribed for mental illness, I shit you not. I've just ordered 50g of pure organic kava root powder off eBay, to give that a go :-)

Maybe it would work as a nasal snuff?

I'm not sure mate, it's possible, I was told by the seller (who has had absolutely no complaints from his customers) that its a VERY fine powder, so maybe. I don't get on with snuffs anyway, so I'm not the guy to try it. I was thinking of buying a snuff box though, one if those airtight (ish) wooden ones, so I can transport my new poison (medicine!) and finger dab as when needed.

Quite cheap if you get a decent amount of alkaloids from the powder, at about £12 for 50g shipped.

Dabbing it would be nice as you should get a numbing sensation.

Now I tried it. It definitely has "some" effect, extreme drowsiness followed by a headache later on. I tried it next time just before going to bed and it seemed to strengthen the sleep pill I used - I could use 1/2 instead of 1. I probably should try 30 drops as stated on the bottle, but the 16 I had (later decreased to 10) were followed by a really heavy migraine that lasted almost all of the next day and resulted in heavy painkiller use. Not a healthy anternative

Oh man, sorry you went through all that. Kava is a diuretic, so maybe that's why the headache. It sounds like you should probably avoid it tho :-(

It might have been a coincidence or overdose of sorts. You wrote you used 10 drops, the bottle stated 30, so I tried just over the middle; maybe it was too much. Or maybe it clashed with the hypertension meds I use. I definitely won´t throw the bottle away, there are dozens of doses there I will just have to be a bit more cautious. I cannot deny it has some effect, so when I finetune the dosage I hope I will enjoy it fully.

And drinking more water is always good...

On my third cup of Kava, and I'm feeling pretty good.

My Fijian friend took me to a Fijian shop and I picked up a pound along with a coconut shell (for stirring and pouring the drink), and a cloth (for extracting).

                        Next project: Bhang.
