Both models have it coming in and advancing directly overhead as it stalls, then off it goes. Spent all day moving rocks and gravel to reinforce steep driveway. I have plenty of backup power and heat, but this is the one nightmare scenario for one living in the forest with all the giant old trees, going to be jumpy for a while. These are 130 foot hardwoods towering all around. Not so much worried about the damage, more of sudden death.

Blue thanks for checking in bro

we are fine..........I was in the mountains all day today and could see the outer bands across the sky.......but it should miss us here in SC and hit further up north......regardless being in the mountainous part of the state I am far enough inland that most storms just get us wet.

Actually most storms that hit the gulf or further up the east coast tend to suck all the moisture out of the air and so make it dry……….

Regardless……..all is well in the SC Mountains

Basement is A last resort! Storm will peak with 65 mph sustained winds at 1 am. I just hate having it push through during the night.

I wish the storm would just fsck off. I don't feel like dealing with broken trees and a flooded basement again.

I don't know if you guys remember like 2 yrs ago where we had a freak storm here in my neck of the woods. If I remember right no power for 5 days and I had an ancient tree go down that I didn't have the tools to clean up. I took care of what I could then paid a service like $1500 which was real cheap compared to the vultures circling at the time to get rid of it. Even he wanted to charge me to haul the shit away. I was like don't you sell this as firewood he's like yeah but a lot of this is rotten and no good and whatever. So I said fine then just leave it and I'll use it for my burn pit. Then he's like well I could sell some of it. I'm like well then take what you want but I aint paying you to sell it. Needless to say a majority of it was gone for no extra charge.

I remember that Blue. You don't have any kind of wood stove, or something like that? I'd have a hard time paying $1,500 to remove a downed tree. You can buy some impressive cutting equipment for that kind of money.

Yeah but in a residential area it's hard to let that stuff slide. Not to mention the time involved would have lost me money in other ways. Anyways the insurance took care of it. They called it debris field something. If i remember right I paid like $300 deductible. Yeah if it had come down to it, I don't think I'd of paid that out of pocket either...... Oh and it did fall in an easement to the river that is owned by 7 families on the other side of the street which is their only access to the river and I really couldn't and shouldn't have expected them to live with it while I whittled away at it in my free time.........

I can appreciate that, especially since insurance covered it. Cutting up big trees becomes unfun fairly quickly, even if you bought fun tools to do it.
