Yeah I like fun tools too. But the problem with that particular style of fun tool you better be buying premium especially if your task is big wood. Because if you don't most likely those big fun tools are just gonna get chewed up real fast. Not sure if you've looked at the price of a nice stihl or husqvarna chain saw lately but it's ridiculous for a casual user. I got a 20" homelite I bought 10 yrs ago that runs like a top but I never really tasked it beyond it's capabilities and I still consider myself lucky. I'm constantly fixing the ryobi string trimmer and it's prolly the fifth I've owned which is the only reason I am as adept as I am to fixing this one at this point.........

I remember that Blue, that looked crazy. I remember that your yard looked nice. Grass and trees abutting a river is a fine yard by me. Ideal in fact, as long as flooding isn't an issue. You were without power for several days right?

No Flooding here. The system I live on is controlled by a dam and a flood relief valve and a lock to allow boats access to both North and South. Which can be good or bad depending on which side you live on. I live on the North side which is the good side and am in the middle of the system. It's kinda hard to explain but i'll try the river in my back yard runs north and south and actually opens up to multiple lakes to the north but then hit's the dam and the recent flood relief valve to the south. So pretty much up on the lakes I've witnessed flooding below the dam/locks/flood relief I've witnessed flooding. Where I'm at no flooding. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good because I knew none of this upon moving in.... Knocking on wood as we speak.........

I'm genuinely concerned about this system. Two years ago, we got 18" of really wet, heavy snow and our power was out for 11 days. They are forcasting that we will get between 16"-30" of freaking snow from Sandy....wtf? Breaking out the kerosene and natural gas heaters, solar lights, etc and stocking up on food. We'll have to see how this plays out. I'm hoping for the best, especially for those on the east coast that will be directly impacted by Sandy.

I hope everything is well for our members in the path of the storm.

We had our own little spook moments ago. A 7.7 earthquake off the coast of BC.

Yep, for those of us "lucky" enough to reside in far eastern KY, we've been told that the possibility exists for some 16" of snow, and up to 30". I'm not sure that will happen, but I can guarantee that we'll see snow, winds in excess off 40mph and power outages. Hell, the power goes out during light winds here, lol.

No plush man cave........... Smells strongly of hanging tobacco...... and humming power inverter no doubt. I have a massive industrial battery bank and power inverter down there, I can go about three days before cycle charging with the generator. That is the good part, it has 35 years of accumulation and is a bit crowded, it is 30 by fourty though and 3 sides under ground.

I buy my saw chain by the foot and keep a ton of it on hand, two professional saws, I hate cutting wood, hell of a hard way to heat, would not be so bad if I did not live on five acres of steep slope towards the river (Potomac). That slope just kills my back over time. But hardwood is all around me and I lose my power a lot. I will be last on the priority list for restoration.

Isabel spared me, but this mother looks bad! Gonna be what it is...........Good luck all! That is going to be one wet snow................

Great, they just announced a blizzard warning too! Thank you jeebsus!

Who else here would have a UPS on the snus freezer? No matter how resourceful I get, mother nature is awesome in her display of raw power, I just getting too old for all of this. I plan to finish preparations with a pitcher of bloody Mary's , only thing that makes sense to me now! Thirty inches of wet snow, hahhaahahahahahahahhah! End times! Good luck and goodbye for a while.

My dad lives in that area, thanks for letting me know. I know all about the power going out lol. When I lived in London and had Jackson Energy it was constantly out. People across the fence from me had KU and no problems. A lower bill too lol.
