Socialism - The Political Party We Need

In the United States there are no Socialist parties. We need a third party such as the Socialist Labor Party, a party to stand up for our worker's rights!

It pisses me off to no end that American's (mentally insane Republican's) cannot see the light that plutocratic capitalism will only drive this country
further into a depression. If the average man has no money to spend, because they cannot make it and the banks won't lend it, then how the hell will he get it?

It is sickening to me to see billionaires treat their thousand's employees like slaves, shit wages, poor healthcare and terrible working conditions!

It's probably too far gone now. Too much money tied up in politics here. With media brainwashing, the person with the fattest wallet usually wins.

I realise the ballots are different from state to state, but I always see some form of Socialist representation on the ballot.

Take this election cycle for instance... Along with President Obama and Mitt Romney, there are spots for the "Socialism & Liberation Party" and the "Socialist Workers Party"......................... They might want to think of merging, because they're fragmenting their cause.

Anyways, I sympathise with their efforts, but I'm a Social Democrat. Besides, there's room for Socialism in the party. It would certainly be a breath of fresh air if we had more likeminded individuals in Congress.

It's a long road ahead, but progress has been made... and we have a powerful ally in the Senate

      http://www.sanders.senate.gov

      -------------

In other words............. The road to victory is through the Democratic party (... and as Senator Bernie Sanders has shown, running as an Independent and caucsing with the party).

        I'm calling BS.

When in history has socialism actually succeeded and prospered?

There's a big difference between a safety net and a free entitlement program.

Socialism leads to mediocrity and lack of innovation.

Without incentive for innovation and progress you're left with stagnation and festering abuse of power by the upper echelons.

Wake up and stop looking to the government to solve societies problems.

I'm not saying the divide between the haves and the have nots ever expanding is not disturbing. It is.
The answer is not redistribution of wealth.

To me the answer is smaller government.

Our taxes are being horribly mismanaged and squandered.

When the dollar collapses you'll see how well the altruistic ideals of socialism last.

When will capable human beings take responsibility for their own condition?

If my labor goes to subsidize socialized programs I'd rather not work and suckle along side the other parasites.

This is already a socialist country, but it largely goes to the corporations. If I'm going to have socialism, I want it to benefit me. I'd prefer a true free market, and a minuscule government. If there's money left over, it can then go to social programs. Everybody wants free shit, but that isn't realistic. We can't all get get free shit; someone has to pay. This country has a lot of problems, and socialism won't fix any of them. The biggest fix we can make is getting over the the ridiculous notion we're a super power, and act accordingly. When you're putting everything on the credit card, you aren't super, that makes you stupid, and the house of cards will eventually collapse. It happened to the USSR, and it'll happen to us unless we re-prioritize, and quit trying to spend our way into world domination. We're China's bitch. It's time to STFU, and get used to it...

I think that people basically need to be much nicer full stop. To their communities, to the less well off in society, to their nation and to the world. People need to overcome their natural urges for greediness and materialism in order to achieve this.

That plan goes wrong is when giant centralised government tries to implement it because our nations are too big to cope with socialism.

Nothing wrong with socialist ideology to my mind. Just the practicalities of it never work on a large scale.

                  Cheers

Socialism in it's pure form won't work, however a proportion of socialism in a society is a good thing.

The socialists are on the ballot. Hell, they have been in office for years. "It pisses me off to no end" that people think it (socialism) actually works.

Yeah, I've always seen them on the ballot. Usually there's a communist party candidate and a "people's party" person or some such thing. I only notice because I have to scroll past their names to find the libertarian candidate.

I say socialism isn't enough- we should go full blown communist. Then we'll get five or six people to completely run the country from inside a mansion deep within the Sierra mountains. Until a coup is staged and there's only one man left standing- then we can go back to having a king-slash-dictator. History has proven that it ALWAYS works!

I say all this with a smile, not because I find socialism without some merit, it's just that it has never worked on a federal level. The only partially successful implementation that I can think of is Sweden, who have the "middle way" doctrine- 50% capitalism balanced with 50% socialism. It used to work, until the droves of of poor immigrants from other countries bumrushed the country and threw the balance off. Now Sweden is finding out that socialism isn't that awesome when you've got more mouths at the tit than milk to go around.

This is pretty much my view. I'm actually for full blown communism on a small scale. I see no reason it can't work when you can keep an eye on everyone, and light a fire under the slacker's asses. That would work for a village sized project, but certainly no bigger than county scale imo. Our system is broken, and we need something different. We have a mix of socialism and capitalism which benefit the rich, the corporations, and at he very bottom, the dirt poor, assuming you count their meager lifestyles as living. We don't have many that die from starvation, which is a good thing, but we also don't have many opportunities for subsistence living where people can take care of themselves without government assistance. The problem is complex, and multifaceted, but I think the libertarian philosophy does the most good, for the most people. If we taught our children to be more civic minded as you have with churches, we could have a private socialist system that gives the less fortunate a chance to succeed, but with no guarantees. IOW, the people can get help without assuming the help will always be here, and them becoming dependent on the system.
