Welcome! You've come to the right place. Many of us here have cut back or quit smoking entirely thanks to snus, all the while still enjoying the tobacco and nicotine. There's a real wealth of active info on this site and a group of genuinely good folks. Almost anything you'll want to know about this little world can be found by searching the site, or... just ask.

    Regards,

First of all, sorry for my bad english, I'm sure there will be a lot of wrong words and stuff, but I guess you'll understand the meaning.

Well, my first snus-experience was when me and some friends were chilling and bathing at the local lake, in the sun.
After a bath we lie down to try to get a little tan.
Then one of my friends takes up a box of mocca and puts one in his mouth and bids us others to try one too.

Seeing snus is regular here in Norway, we weren't that curious and stuff like some of you americans were, but we've been raised with the fact that snus is as dangerous as cigarettes and blahblahblah, so we were a bit sceptical to it.

Anyways, I tried a portion and fell in love.
Later on he reveals a tin of skruf stärk lös, and of course I tried that too.
So, the next day I bought a tin for myself.

So, that's how I got into it, and I'm not planning to quit using it anytime soon.

Well I started smoking at school (15) - not really through peer pressuse, more through curiosity. However I gave up due to it being too hard to hide from my parents! Instead I used nasal snuff (Wilsons Medicated no.99) - mainly in private because it's not that socially acceptable unless you're over 70! I started smoking again while at university though - first with brands like Rothmans and Consulate (mainly menthols) - and when I started playing music I went on to hand-rolled cigarettes because it's what the musicians over here do - and that's because it's cheaper.

I never really wanted to give up. I like tobacco too much - I have dabbled with almost all sorts - cigars, snuff, pipe tobacco and exotic cigarettes. When we were touring Norway with the band last September, I saw a snus fridge in a shop and got some Catch Eucalyptus for a laugh. 2 of us tried it in the van, not knowing what we were doing - bottom lip and everything. It burned like hell and my friend spat his out after going green. Undeterred - I bought some General mini-portions and after being told to upper lip them they started to make sense. When leaving at the airport I bought a roll of mocca mint at the duty free - just as a momento.

The tins stayed in my fridge doing nothing. But when hotels here banned smoking in private rooms - I brought some along as a last resort. I spend loads of time in hotels and in the British winter, you don't want to be going outside all the time for a smoke! I found that I could alleiviate all the cravings except for the last cigarette of the day. By this time I had nearly run out of mocca. So I found this site and BuySnus on the internet and ordered some more - I was quite astonished at the variety available and got quite a few types. It was only then that I discovered that the health risks were actually much less than smoking.

By December - I found I was snusing most of the time and was down to 3 or 4 cigarettes a day fom 20. With a tiny bit of effort to change the habits - I found I could get it down to 1 a day - and it was a logical jump to just cut that one out too. My partner was delighted and very suprised! Snus also satisfies something which cigarettes just can't do - a love of different flavours - I'm like it with anything gourmet - food, real ale, whisky - I know it's a bit obsessive - but I love all those kinds of things.

Since December last year - I have had maybe 5 cigarettes, mainly when out drinking and the great thing about snus is that I'm already addicted to nicotine so it won't tip the balance and get me started again - every time it was disappointing too. I still occasionally have a little go on my pipe - and may go back to a little nasal snuff in the future - but I think I'm definitely an ex-smoker unless my snus supply stops. I really hope that the EU sort out the silly laws which were mainly put in place to stop Skoal bandits coming over here with their "child friendly" flavours.

        I love it!

I most definitely don't think snus will come to a halt.
