If you're not eating them all the time it's not unhealthy, it's perfectly good and nutritious food. It's got the three main foods for survival in abundance - protein, carbohydrate and fats. There are a lot of calories in these meals but common sense should prevail - if yer a fat arse already - don't eat it. Remember Squeezy that Britain was covered with fish and chip shops where it cost a few pence to have a fish supper - the stuff was fried in lard and that was on top of bread and dripping and all other kinds of stuff people used to eat. All of my grandparents lived to a right old age without associated health problems............probably because they had to walk absoloutely everywhere for absoloutely everything. Obviously if you're eating them every single day and you're a couch potato you'll have problems......but as a meal it's not unhealthy.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, non-Hispanic blacks have the highest rates of obesity in the United States at 44.1%. Mexican Americans have the second-highest with 39.3%.
City officials say New York's obesity rate is rising, having reached 24% of adults, up from 18% in 2002.
Obesity-related illnesses in New York cost more than $4.7bn (£3bn) a year to treat, with government programs picking up around 60% of the cost, according to city Health Commissioner Thomas Farley.
Dukes said she supported tackling obesity by limiting unhealthy food and increasing opportunities for physical activity, but insisted it was wrong to "single out" bodegas which struggle to compete with large corporations.
"No one doubts that obesity, diabetes, and heart disease exert a disproportionate toll on African-Americans, Latinos, and low-income Americans generally," says Michael F Jacobson, executive director of the Center for Science in the Public Interest.

I don't understand how people on low incomes can afford to eat so much of this stuff anyway. My wife and I earn decent wages and we as a family can't afford to eat this stuff all the time at £13.00 a pop. It's like I watch this guy whose always rolling home from the pub completely drunk every day. He obviously doesn't work so how the hell does he afford to drink that much in a pub at £4.00 a pint - I couldn't afford that?

Yeah - well you caught me at a bit of a grumpy moment :-)
I would have to disagree about fish and chips though - the thickness of the chips is a massive factor in how much oil they take up in the frying process - with fish and chips you can taste the potato! As for fried fish in batter - yes I know it's not healthy - but it's also not pumped full of additives. One major problem with fish and chips is that the portion sizes are still set at the size it takes to feed someone who has been out doing manual labour all day - not just working in front of a computer screen!
I agree that as a treat or if you're occasionally in need of something in a hurry - fast food will not be that bad for you - but it's certainly no replacement for a home-cooked meal in terms of nutrition.
Cheers

BK bet/ the two but honestly I can count on one hand how many times per year. If I want a greasy burger like hangover food it's Five Guys. If I have the hankerin' for a burger, we've got a Ted's Montana Grille in town. I go there for a bison burger. All told it's $14 or something for the burger but it's wicked good, lean as hell, and big enough to be considered dinner. That and a little salad makes me feel yummy. I get the burger fix taken care of and it's bison so I don't feel it's nearly as bad as BK or McD.
