Which phone are you currently using?

Which phone are you guys currently using? I'm just asking out of curiosity.

    iPhone 5

I'm not a huge fan, but it was time to update my phone and didn't care to learn how to use a new system. Not going with an apple phone next time though.

iPhone 4S...so far no complaints. Second iPhone I've had since the battery on my 3GS crapped out last year. I think Apple really puts out good product and I can say the iPhone is the best cell phone I've owned to date. Last time I had more than one phone from the same manufacturer was back in the days of Motorola "dumb phones". Had a v400, v505, then a RAZR. I thought they were all good for their time also.

Got a lot of respect for those phones - great battery life and great signal. Hard as nails.
If you like music, books, snuson etc I'd upgrade though - The phones these days do everything apart from wipe your arse.......so far.

I own an HTC One X - super for music with Beats Audio. Beats Audio upgrades every sound perfectly. Thought it was a gimmick before I got the phone - not one bit.

Have had a Galaxy Nexus for a while now. I don't do contracts so I'm not planning on upgrading until later this year.

I hear you mate. This £20 phone i have isn't as good as the £20 one Nokia did a few years ago. I don't know i guess i like a phone to be a phone. I had one for a while that had bells and whistles but i was finding that when i did get on my main computer i had already done half the stuff i wanted to get on it for already on my phone. Horses for courses i guess. My nephews have iPhones and love them.

The Kyocera Neo. It as tough as a tank and it makes calls. I get 200 minutes on it for $10 a month which leaves me with more money to buy snus.

Samsung Droid Charge (Verizon), rooted with a Tweaked 3.0 ROM.

I used to have an Iphone 3gs, and before that some Symbian and Windows Smart Phones so I am an old hack on the Smart phone front.

Iphone was truly one of the best smart phones I ever had, and I have an Ipad now, and I also have an android tablet.

They have their pros and cons. The Samsung charge I have not been impressed with it but it was one of the only 4g LTE options available at the time I got it. Next time around I may go back to the Iphone again or I might go for either a Galaxy, Note, or one of the Motorola Droid options. I guess we will see what is available when the time comes for an upgrade (November).

                That being said.

Iphone pros, much better media device, especially music, has a real time kernel and supported by more major manufacturers. The new lightning port is an improvement (I have the latest Ipad, not the mini) but it will take time for the 3rd party vendors to catch up and make full use of it. I use my Ipad to compose music, and as a live synth brain controlled via MIDI as well as DJ'ing with it live and even guitar effects processing. That is three things you cannot do with Android more on that later...

Iphone cons, the closed architecture and the most powerful apps are generally more expensive. Oh and the biggest negative is Itunes, my how I loath Itunes.

Android Pros - architecture, and when dealing with all types of network connectivity and cross architecture environments it is king. But you have to avoid cheap hardware, because that will be your downfall. Many very useful apps are free, but be careful of free apps, some of them are junk expressly made to data mine, those exist on Iphone but I see more and worse in the android arena. Voice command interaction is much better on Android and has always been.

Android Cons - given similar or better hardware to comparable Iphones there is a performance issue with audio, Android does not use a real time kernel (which is crazy for a mobile device). This causes huge audio latency issues and because of that no serious music software or hardware vendors are seriously looking to develop on the platform. Also this same core kernel issue can lead to far less responsive touch screen interaction than an Iphone.

HTC Windows 7 phone. A hand me down from a relative who felt sorry for me for using a 19.99 nokia from Walmart. The nokia was just fine because that is basically all I use the phone for is making calls. However texting with a keyboard has made it easier to communicate with people I would rather not talk with.

You will never find me with an apple product of anything that has "beats." Apple charges outrageous prices for a lesser product which makes people believe it is more valuable which makes a cult following that is incredibly annoying. "Beats" is not anything special other than a 2cent upgrade to the audio connectors that people mistake for a 200 dollar upgrade, it also makes you look like an asshat when you walk around a college campus with your 400$ overpriced headphones while bitching about how you have no money.

I have. It is better. This is not some kind of "break through" technology though. It's a phone manufacturer actually giving a shit about the audio quality of its product and spending an extra few cents per unit. It promotes this increase in quality by endorsing a fad name such as "beats". Sure the phone is better audio quality but would douchebag 16 year olds buy it just on that statement. No it has to have this "beats technology" on it which then increases the price. It's a complete move away from the mentality of lets get the best quality for the best price to lets buys stuff thats more expensive because it has this name on it because everyone else is and its expensive so its super cool yolo swag.
