Irony - a thread about a fight that broke out about the greatest guitarist ever has transmogrified into universal accord over a band that rarely played more than 4 chords.

Yeah that'd be the one. He said his socks were ruined cuz the fake blood was about six inches deep. Just out of curiosity have you ever listened to Blitzkid? A great band connected to the Graves Misfits with a similar sound.

Saw him with Bob Dylan last Fall. Dylan was a bittersweet visit. He is "over the hill" but love is blind.

No I have not. I will have to put that in my bands to check out list, which is getting long lately the way my schedule has been.

Not really irony, just pitifulness when taking into account how off topic you stated I went in this thread. Now you are talking about bands with guitarists that belong nowhere near the greatest of all time list. But I am sure some ignorant superior reply is coming since you always have to reply last, and try to belittle while doing so.

Saw him live years ago at the Garden State Art center in NJ, I think it is now PNC Bank Art center or something like that.

Anyway got free tickets for Steve Miller Band and he was the opener. His show was much more the crescendo of the evening.

Well as a professional musician ... I should have skipped this thread completely because it always leads to petty arguments on a subject that is 100% subjective (and if you don't understand what that means it means that it's about what you like ... not about judging purely on merit) ... my opinion is that these guitarists should all get a squeezebox and they would be much happier and make far better music

Talking about the guitar in absolute terms is ridiculous - there are so many styles out there that cannot possibly be compared with eachother - they are too different.

It's crazy to see the arguments here and to the extent that it's filled with hate and further poisoning this great forum ... and that the argument centres around the basic premise of "I like this - and if you don't like this then you can **** off" - watching such childish behaviour is very boring indeed ... especially as I have 5 and 7 year old children who completely satisfy my need for completely infantile arguments. I come here to escape that.

Having said that ... the greatest technical guitarist I have ever seen is this guy - but I know that being the best at your instrument never equals making the best music ever. However if you check out his videos and watch what he is capable of - then compare him to your favourite guitarist - I'd challenge anyone to say that they were a better guitarist than him.
