    Greatest Guitarist of all Time

Rock-n-rollers head to jail in Brook Park following argument over favorite guitarist

When you fight the law, the law usually wins.
A couple was arrested after their argument over who was the greatest guitarist of all time became so heated that Motel 6 staff was forced to call the Brook Park police.

The boyfriend was screaming on behalf of Slash, lead guitarist for Guns and Roses. The girlfriend was jumping for Eddie Van Halen, namesake of ’80s rockers Van Halen.

Everybody mentioned is fantastic but I wanna switch genres and nominate Roy Clark.

Also, why has no one mentioned Eric Clapton.

You are out of your mind. I am guessing you are a big Rhianna fan or something. While there is no definitive "greatest" guitarists, you hold absolutely zero credibility if you do not include EVH or Slash up there in the list. Well, maybe not out of your mind, but you know nothing about music in any case.

                  Mark Knopfler gets my vote.

Well shall I make a short list of people I would put well above them, in no particular order...

                    Don Ross
                    Django Reinhardt
                    Buddy Guy
                    Clapton
                    Tony Iommi
                    Randy Rhodes
                    Zach Wilde
                    Eric Johnson
                    John Butler
                    Kaki King
                    Michael Hedges

As well as several others already mentioned in this thread...

Shall I continue... or would you like to educate me more on your vast musician experience that makes your opinion more qualified than mine...

You may continue. Won't make you any more right to not include them in the list. Eddie changed how guitar was played in the rock arena. Whether you like the music or not, to not include them, and consider them as bad taste is pure ignorance. If you listen to Slash's self titled CD, he has a guest vocalist on almost every song, and wrote a song that fit the genre of the singer, which means he wrote songs in about 8 different genre's and plays everyone beautifully, in the genre, yet still unmistakeable Slash.. If thats not talent, then i do not know what is. I don't like all of the music that was created by the players in your list, but I won't be ignorant and state that they are all not incredible guitar players. Liking a musician or not should not preclude you from seeing their excellence, except when coming from pompous attitudes like you seem to be displaying in this thread.

Ah see the problem is reading comprehension, see they discussion was over the greatest, not whether they had talent or influence, additionally the discussion was about guitar in general, not just "rock" guitar. Hope that helps your reading comprehension issue.
