I recently bought a cheap 25# recurve bow to try out with my son. I think I am starting to get into archery but don't know much about it. I have done some research on the net and am considering getting a Samick Sage. I am not sure what weight to get yet but am thinking about starting with a 50# model. Does anyone have any experience or advice about recurve bows?
Is anyone here into archery?

O man.............I love recurves
About all I know about them though……… is that it is very important to make sure the sharp pointy stick with the feathers on it………………. is pointing away from you when you fire..............beyond that............and the green woodsman tights..............I won't be very helpful
But I am exactly where you are............I bought two youth bows for my boys.................love shooting with them.........been eying recurves
But GV..........I am puzzled…………..you do know...............outside of William Tell............most folks just pick their fruit and veggies..........When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Anyway …if you end up getting a recurve……….let us know what you get
Have you checked ebay..........When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Yes, ebay has them for about $130.00 which isn't bad. I am not sure about the weight. There is an archery store here with an indoor range. If I was smart, I would spend a few bucks to test a few different models. The hay bale is a good idea. They are cheap and biodegradable so I might get one over the weekend.

I called the archery store to ask if they carry Samick Sage and the lady who answered the phone figured out I was Internet shopping. She pointed out to me that every bow has a different fit and it is important to try out a few before deciding on one. She told me that they do carry Samick recurves along with a few other brands. Best of all, I can try them free before buying it. The prices she qouted were about $20 more than ebay but I am thinking that the service is worth a little extra. I am hoping to go there either this Saturday or next Saturday to try some out.

Took archery in college over 20 years ago but never got a bow or continued. A couple years ago I got a nice compound hunting bow fully set up for $20Finally got around to getting back into it. We have a really nice range in my town that's cheap and beautiful with long hiking trails with targets set up (it's kinda like golf). The family is all into it and it's like our new thing. Lot's of fun. My bow is a bit too hard for me right now at 60 lbs but I think I can work up to it with practice. But yeah, I should go get one that's really set up right for me. That's the best thing to do. Just don't want to spend the money right now.
