I am sure Paleo man grazed on what he could find during the day verses sitting down and feasting 2 meals a day like most people do.
Probably very opportunistic as most animals are. Grazed on whatever could be gathered through the day, and binged whenever there was a big kill as there wasn't much in the way of preservation methods back then.
I started a ketogenic (primal blueprint-based) diet with bulletproof coffee as IF (intermittant fast) in morning (with the maximum recommended butter at 80g!) 5 months ago, and I've lost 28lb (2st)... EFFORTLESSLY. None of that 'chronic cardio' beat your body into the ground at the gym then eat shit loads of carbs straight after crap. I was well obese when I started the diet and now I'm just a bit overweight, and I'm still losing weight. What's surprised me is that I'm on an a high dose of an antipsychotic that makes people (including myself) balloon. I was probably consuming 3500+ calories a day, now I can scrape by on 1800-2200. That's the thing about consuming large amounts of healthy saturated fat (don't believe the now redundant BS about saturates), you need fewer calories and are still satisfied. Lots of grass-fed butter and coconut oil is the trick, and even healthy treats like high cocoa chocolate :-)
Consuming a ton of fat - including the magical medium chain triglycerides (which act in a similar way to carbs) - in the morning gives your brain a seriously tangible kick, I relish my BPC next morning in bed at night lol.
I agree completely... gentleman's bet. No money involved. FWIW, I am 28, 6'0", I weigh 193 currently, no heart / digestive / blood sugar conditions.
Just to be clear, you're going to give me the number of calories I must eat each day to not lose weight, correct?

Three things, if there are stakes it needs to be a "gentleman's bet".
Everything is pretty much on your honor.
But I must say that such a thing can be negative to health to consume excessively for a period of time. If you have any type of heart condition, digestive condition, blood sugar condition I decline being involved in such a thing. Also if you are over 40 and/or at a point where your BMI would be considered obese I would not want to be party to a "bet" or experiment that could cause negative impacts.

Exactly. Quality of calories and satisfaction is my point on why many less carbs based diets work.
And incidentally I have gripes against mind numbing endless cardio as a workout plan as well.

Yeah I will come up with a number, something reasonable but guaranteed to exceed your calories out as best as possible. Got to get an idea of activity level, high average might be best. Walking per day, exercise, job nature, recreation nature, etc. Without being too personal.
Incidentally I am 6'5" about 200, I say about because I vary between 195 and 205 (I try to maintain light heavy weight, as a matter of a mark, not being an MMA fighter, based on my frame).
I imagine we could parallel in experience, but with a desk job but some more active hobbies and lifestyle I can typically maintain weight in the 2500 calories a day mark easily. I never count. I am just guestimating from past experience.
Sounds great. Bear in mind I am not really working out regularly... =)

That is AWESOME. I am glad you are having such luck. It parallels the experience that I have had with the BP diet.
It really hasn't been hard to do. MCT oil is the bomb. I am stoked about his brain octane that will be coming out soon. Here's an excerpt from his previes email:
<<<<There are four kinds of medium chain triglycerides in coconut oil, and only the two most powerful ones make it into the Upgraded MCT Oil you’ve already seen. The rarest, most precious type of medium chain oil is C-8, but it’s hard to isolate, and when you do, it has a flavor and smell that can only be described as... goaty. Totally not something to put in your Bulletproof Coffee!
However, the mental boost I felt from using this goat-flavored oil was real, so I decided to find a way to get it without the downside. The result is our unique, time consuming, proprietary process that eliminates the bad smelling free fatty acids, making Upgraded Brain Octane completely tasteless and odorless. It actually improves flavors in your foods as it unleashes your mental powers. It is 18 times more concentrated than plain coconut oil!
After all, you can only eat so much oil every day. You might as well focus on the most powerful, beneficial ones, and Brain Octane C-8 belongs on your list >>>>
Are you doing carb refeeds every couple of days? That is important, because otherwise your body gets used to its ketogenic state. Just have a cup of white rice with honey drizzled over it every few days.

Daily activity level still matters in some detail though. I mean exercise burns calories, but so does watching TV, just not as much.
I didn't do BP, I did some experiments on my own to find what I do well with. For me the biggest thing was watching my vice food. Never been a big sweet eater but man I like salty snacks, particularly chips (American definition).
Your last bit is why I have issues with things like this that try to sell you all sorts of must have "magic" products. No diet is sustainable that you can't simply find said foods at your local store.
Oh the other thing of my "method". I also try to only eat stuff I can reasonably explain its natural source....mostly....
Down to 214 now from 250. Had to go out and buy new clothes as a result. Feels a lot better than buying new clothes because I got too fat for them! Lost three inches off my waist.
Where I will admit that this thread has great merit is the parts where people are agreeing that trying to find a "natural" diet for a human being that is healthy is by going back to a "natural" pre-agriculture human existence and attempt to recreate that dietary intake. That seems like the only real science at work here.
We also have to remember though that back in pre-agricultural times the average life-span was 19 years with some very lucky individuals who would have been considered as the wise members of society living up to 60 years in age if they were very lucky.

Sometimes wrong and sometimes right .... but ALWAYS certain!!!
Are you suggesting, my good man, that our ancestors' short lifespan had more to do with their diets than it did to their faith in the power of prayer vs. plauge, pox, infection, diesese, starvation, and war? Your correlation does not equal causation.
We moderns suffer from affluenza and dig our graves with our teeth.

Very good point - for some reason we also thinking Asian countries, particularly China, has the cure for almost anything but in reality they have a shorter life span than we do.
