'Falling birth rates could see the end of our civilization'

I would like to not have children. My girlfriend feels the same way and we have felt the same way about it for the 8 years we have been together now. The thing is I feel like at the current point the stupid people are multiplying way quicker than the smarter ones. If you disagree take a look at 99% of people my age. Go to a university during finals week, for every 9 people you see at the bars/party houses that need an incredible grade just to pass a class you will find 1 in the library studying for a final on they need a 50% on to keep their A.

Those people are going to have children and that is incredibly scary to me. 2 stupid people get together and have a child that they raise to be bigger douchebags than them....then that kid meets another person like that and they have more children. That's not a personal bash to anyone on here. I'd love to see a population decrease. Every couple that decides not to have children frees up lanes on the interstate keeps class rooms from being over crowded and a number of other benefits.

Hell people are having to grow food where I live to survive,it seems....
Compile that with stress of trying to maintain jobs that arent available....
I couldn't see bringing a child into this mess.

I know stuff seems messed up but there has really never been a safer time to be born and live. Hell I know lots of people in tough economic situations and all but that said...Women only rarely die during child birth, most children live past their third birthday, and the chances of Mongols burning the village is almost nil. People who dont want kids, fine. But there is really no shortage of anything in the West. The ability to choose not to breed is yet another luxury of modern life as kids in the past were expected to work in the family business and take care of us when we were old.
