The plan would be to write a few threads dedicated to each week (e.g. Week 1 - Creating your first program).

You would read what I wrote, and do the assignment. Then you would turn in your code to me for checking. If you had any problems or questions, then you can send me a PM, post in the specific thread, or shout at me through the chatbox. At the end of each week, I'll grade it. Every other week, I will give you a short quiz (which will also be graded). Then on the last week, I'll give a final quiz (also graded). Then you get your final grade.

Not that the grades mean anything (per se); it's only there to serve as an indicator of your progress.

    Sound good?

I'm in if you decide to do it. I'll use all my own tools, so it may not end up working, but I'll give it hell :^)

        The ball is in motion.

I've begun issuing licence keys to those that are definitely on-board. I hope to have everyone ready to go by the end of this week, and the goal is to hit the ground running two weeks after.

If you're short on time, then you're more than welcome to observe. Since you're already acquainted with C#, this should be a breeze for you.

Received some messages regarding participation... I got room for one more person (if they're definitely on-board)........ Fifth person will be me guinea pig of sorts. The plan is to issue Visual Studio 2008 to participant 5.

Which would mean that I would be instructing with Visual Studios 2008, 2010, 2012, and some penguin compiler that Skillet will be using.

                I know......... I'm a sick man.

First lesson to begin on 15. June -- If you haven't done so already, get your Visual Studio (or whatever you're using) installed and ready to go.

[[ When asked, select "C++ Development" (though it won't hurt any to select "General Development" ]]

If you run into any issues, please let me know and I'll guide you through the process of setting up VS.

Seriously a billion better systems to learn real C++ on, that will be more universal. Hell I would take Xcode over VS. And although I have been known to code plenty of times in VIM why not use code::blocks.

If you read the thread, you would see I allowed people to use their own compilers (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc).

Skillet is using a compiler in Linux, and Bigblue1 is observing with a compiler in Mac.
