    A bit late on this I am sure. Eclipse is great for Java dev but I have never liked it for C or C++ dev. Just too much overhead without any gain.

    On a mac Xcode is workable, but you should also be able to get CODE::BLOCKS to run, which is an open source solution. One way you can go about acquiring CODE::BLOCKS is through Mac Ports.

      I forgot about CODE::BLOCKS, used it a long time ago with wxWidgets.

            It's worth noting that VisualStudio Express editions are available for free (no licence keys needed!). You can get Express editions for C#, C++, and VB.NET - they don't have all the features of the professional editions (advanced debugging, etc) but for most anyone they should be more than sufficient.
