HELP! Does the State of Florida have White Sand & Blue Water?

OK, before you start with the toilet jokes... I'm posing this as a SERIOUS question! The wife wants white sand and blue water for our vacation this year...and no... I'm not taking her to the Caribbean...that is not an option! From what I've been reading on the Internet, White Sand and Blue Water seem to be subjective. Some people say Ft. Walton Beach... some say Cocoa Beach... others say Marco Island. Can someone tell me what Florida has that is as close to a Caribbean beach/area as possible? Thanks in advance.

Oh.... and no, Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean is not a viable option.

I think you need to take her to Britain this summer! She deserves nothing less than the best.

It's the best climate for a beach holiday in the Northern Hemisphere and some of the beaches in Leicestershire are the cleanest in the world with blue sand and white water. Alternatively you can go swimming with dolphins in Loughborough for very affordable prices.

I've been to ALL the beaches in FL. Marco Island is good for couples, very quiet, very few kids...but the beaches are a mix of rock and sand...far from white. The others you mention are nice beaches, but if you want a quiet and enjoyable time with the Mrs., take her to Mexico beach in FL, it's near Destin. Are you looking to rent a house or stay in a hotel? If hotel...got to Destin, if beach house...go to Mexico beach. Have fun!

I think I'm qualified to answer this as I have been living in FLA for 23 yrs... Where you want to be is in the Keys.... Key West is the best for what your looking for and is at the most southern point in the US you can Get, With water so clear you can see your feet at chest deep water a sunrise and sunset over the beach on the same day... Lots to see and do.... Anywhere in the keys will do for this not just key west... You also get the east coast and west coast breeze...

Other than that anyplace futher north of that up to Ft. Laudedale you will get really really Blue ocean and white sands... Does Cocoa Beach have really blue water, Kinda yes and also has white sandy beaches and alot of places to go and see....I love it there too and was just there last weekend for the boat races, Great places to eat and all....

On the west coast you do have Marco Island and sanibel island, Which I have not been to and always wanted to, But this is not the time of year to go to the west coast of FLA unless you really like it Hot as hell as this is in the Gulf with only a very hot breeze, But a breeze none the less, Besides I have heard it is really expensive there, But one of the hot spots (no pun here) to be at in FLA and is said to be very beautiful...

One thing to remember.... It will be hot as hell here in the summer months with the exception being The keys as you get the breeze from both coast, But still Freakin' Hot! The west coast of Florida get's their thunder storms early in the day morning till noon... The east coast of FLA get's the evening storms from 3pm or so till 6pm or so... Like freakin' clock work.... Damn Man! I swear You can set your watch by it and it's all coming soon as our rainy season starts in june.... This does not mean it will rain every day, But when it does it's like a rain blizzard....

IMHO... The keys are where you want to be... You won't regret it... that is as close to a Caribbean beach/area as possible...Period!

I'm with Jag...........the Keys gets my vote

Key west if you want to hear Jimmy Buffett played non stop..........the smaller keys if you are bringing your own tunes
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers
