Never lived there, but I've had the misfortune of visiting, and interacting with the local fauna. That page is hilariously accurate, NW Jersey is lovely, and doesn't look like Jersey at all. I'm not convinced it really is Jersey despite the maps.

From someone who has spent most of their life in IL and has the misfortune of visiting NJ briefly and dealing with people from the NJ area almost daily.....it is not even close to being the same.
IF someone from IL does something incredibly inappropriate they do not justify it by stating "its just an Illinois thing" People from NJ always ask me how they can get a better rate on auto insurance and i always give the same response "sell your house pack your shit and move however many miles west PA is.....is that still isn't low enough keep heading west until you hit Iowa"

I guess I'm more referring to the taxes and infrastructure things that were stated in the piece. Notice I didn't say it was totally the same. Illinois has a lot of great People but probably the most corrupt government in the union. Funny how that works until you realize that being nice won't get you far. Also you have a state that is mainly blue collar but with a huge metropolis (Chicago) that dictates the rest of the less populated regions of the state. And when it comes to Government well Just read John Kass for a few weeks in the Tribune and you will get to know our city and state politics intimately. Again I do believe we our the the worst off fiscally speaking state in the union for a lot of the same reasons that I believe NJ is second or third.....
