    Job Update

So I accepted a position today, start on Monday. Had an interview with a second company today, much, much smaller. The owner today was so apologetic. She knew I was talking with this hot stuff company, with their offices on the 19th floor, 25 million dollars from Goldman Sachs, pays about $7000 more a year. But in the end, I told her, that stuff isn't what motivates me, doing something I love matters far more. I told her I needed the day to think about it, but had made my mind up as I rode home and called her an hour later.

So anyways, I will be working as a Customer Relationship Manager gor a small training company. they train contractors how to build high end concrete counter tops. They have about one class a month. So I will be doing a bit of selling, but mostly, just calling and maintaining relationships with their existing students. There is a forum that they have been lightly involved in. She has pushed for their folks to be more active. I actually got to brag about my participation here and in my motorcycle forums. Yes, I used Snuson to help me get a job!! ;D ;D ;D

SO.... I start Monday. Baby just got her checkup, so I am gonna wake up early tomorrow, and take Highway 50 to the coast and spend the day riding up the coast. Can't think of a better way to celebrate!!

Thank you everyone who has kept good thoughts for me. Your support has meant much to me.

      Thanks bmwgsa,

Yeah I know. Oldsters on this forum know my story, but I was in a bad accident last November. Coming home from work one night, a half block from my house, guy behind me just wasn't paying attention. He hit me doing about 50 mph, I flew up higher then the power lines and landed 30 feet from the point of impact. Fortunately, my gear did what it was supposed to. Landed on my shoulder, then my head hit hard enough to knock me out. But no broken bones, just a severely bruised right shoulder. Six months later the insurance paid me $9100 above my medical bills, and I bought my new bike. I've had her for 3 months and already have 5000 miles on her. Making up for lost time

So yeah, I know the risks. But I love to ride, nothing else gives me that pleasure. So like my snus, I will accept the risks and do my best to manage them.

          congratulations!

I'm confused though. Did you accept the higher paying job or the other more rewarding one?

I'd rather be happy any day. The riches in life aren't always material.

            congratulations on the new job.

I had to quit riding after I had an accident and my girlfriend went flying over me, thru the air and into the gravel. Ultimately she was fine but it took a few months to heal and she was left with some scars. So, I had to marry her cuz no one else would. lol jk..............actually she had to marry ME cuz no one else would. for alot of reasons. heh
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Thanks everyone. And anyone that knows me well enough to know, guess what I am doing right now :P :P :P :P :P :P

bakerbarber, I chose the more rewarding one, or perhaps a better way of saying it, the one I wouldn't hate the most. I passed up about $7500 to start and $10,000 a year within a few months. BUT, the owner was so apologetic about the pay, really, REALLY would like to give me more, I am just gonna throw myself at everything and put the attention in to make things better. The construction trade sucks right now, and they have seen a 50% drop in their training revenue. They would like 12 people per class, their classes lately have been averaging 4-5. Class costs about $3000. So..... my goal is to drive it back up to 10 per class. That works out to $15,000 more per month. I do believe that she will happily share a bit of that with me once we are there. And I really prefer to prove myself first, I do good, the money part will just follow.

And PP. most folks were crazy when I told them I was getting another bike. But I had given up riding 18 years ago when my ex-wife and I moved in together. I only got a bike again last June, 6 months after Laura and I had split. I can't even begin to express the joy and peace I found back on a bike. I got my new bike 3 months ago, I already have 5000 miles on her. At this point in my life, riding is really the only pleasure I have. Well, that and snus of course.

                    OMG, you bad!!!

OK, so maybe exaggerating a touch. And I do have a new friend, FRIEND right now, but there is at least some potential. we just are taking things SLOW. Reality, other parts of my life are getting better. I have now lost 12 pounds, and love working out too.

And this job was just the next MAJOR piece in my reconstruction. SO I expect soon, that other pleasure will share with the bike. But riding???, I still love it so much. I will do about 450 miles tomorrow, and probably ride the entire NC coast up to the outer banks.

New friend, new job, riding the outer banks. Honestly??? My life is suddenly damn good!! Oh, and I will be taking some of my favorite snus too!!!

So good to hear that thing are looking way up for you, Sage! Sometimes slogging through the bad makes the good that much sweeter. I'm sure someone already said that...

                      Well done, sir.

Thank you. And so true, on so many levels. Trust me, that is one lesson I have internalized, and already experienced. I had to wait 6 months to ride again. Really, really hard time. Bad pain for two months, doctors every 2 days for 4 months, waiting, and the whole time, seeing other motorcyclists, and not being able to ride.

But because of that, I have more enjoyed my purchase of my GV250 then any other vehicle I ever bought, other than when I got my 350Z. That I waited for more than a year. I have had my bike for only 3 months, yet have 5000 miles ridden. I am making up for lost time!!

In the end, I am almost thankful for the experience. Yeah, getting hit kinda sucked, but I am far richer, materially and spiritually for it. I have the most amazing bike, 1000 times better than my old bike. So was it bad I got hit??? Really kinda hard to say yes. I am better off now than before I got hit. And so many lessons learned along the way.

The big thing for me now that the job part is done, suddenly I realize, that for the first time really since my wife left, I am feeling very grateful these days. Been a long time coming and lots of dark places in between. But I am just so damn grateful that I can feel grateful again.

                          sagedil,

Great news!!! Glad to hear things are going well.

Move forward with a smile and don't look back. Life is a ride, sometimes fast and sometimes barely moving.

Use the past as reference for the future.

Move the stone, for life is too short to wait for it to move on its own.

Oh, and most important -- Have fun
                          Phil

Excellent news. Enjoy your ride. Looks like it will be great weather for it. Jamie and I will be leaving ~ 1:00 today for Ocean Isle for a second anniversary weekend getaway (yeah I know, but even an old, blind dog finds a bone from time to time) so if you see the Steel Blue beast, at least wave.
