Roku, Vizio Co Star, Apple TV... which box is best?

I have an old Logitec Revue and am looking to upgrade. Anyone have any suggestions on which set top box is best to consider?

Roku 3 would be my choice. I have a WD live that continues to disappoint.

Not in the list but I have been using the Sony Streamer and been happy with it. The reason I prefer it over Roku is support of standard DLNA protocol allowing me to serve content from my Linux server. Roku does not allow this except through a third party that only runs on Windows last I checked.

I usually use netflix, but when I decide to use a "box", I go with Roku.

Netflix and Hulu are on Roku along with 1000 other channels. PBS also has a channel on there now. My only issue has been with trying to use Playon through Roku. Sometimes playon works other times it stalls a lot. You have to leave use playon through Roku and tech support told me that I do not have a fast enough processor to support their system.

I'm a hacker at heart so I went with this:

              http://www.ebay.com/itm/Smart-TV-Box...item19d184c8fe

I own quite a few Android devices so I hope I'm happy with this.

I've found Roku + Plex to be a win. However, if you have a Mac, it would be worth it to get an Apple TV. I have both. It's really nice to be able to mirror my screen to my TV without any hassle.

Yeah if you are heavy in the apple device market then Apple TV can be a very seamless solution. Most Mac users I know went that route and are happy with it.

I have had a Roku in the past that works well but the Roku 2 in our living room has been nothing but problems and the remote is awful. My roommate has an Apple TV in his bedroom that he seems to like but I don't use Apple products.

I've got a Roku 3 and haven't had any problems with it. No lag at all. The remote works well but if you have a smart phone you can use it as a remote which is nice for typing in searches.
Spend more time watching the tube though.

ROku I guess is out for me.

Looks like they do not support youtube which my kid likes. I guess I am leaning towards the Apple for a cabin. The Apple might also have a better built in WIFI to catch a weaker signal that is similar to something in a hotel that I am using there from a neighbor.

That basically is the same thing as their Streamer products, it just comes with a Blu-Ray player. Same software throughout the Sony line including on the Playstation.

                              PS3 without the gaming?

Took about 10 minutes to get the latest firmware and get everything going. Netflix seemed slightly slower to get a download then the WII but the quality overall was crisper. Everything was there from Hulu, Vudu, Netflix, Youtube and others which I have never heard of.

We use Redbox for new releases and foreign DVD's now and then so this unit should be a good fit. Will test it over the weekend with low nightly internet speeds to see if it holds.
