They are the Nepalese and Tibetan prayer flags marking the summit (as if you could miss it!) I know a lot are put up there to honour dead climbers and sherpas.

Comparable to the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, prayers are written on scraps of paper and pushed into the joints between the stones......who's gonna' clean up that mess....;-)

President Obama goes to the Wailing Wall to pay his respects and encounters an elderly Hasidim at prayer. The old Jew can see Obama doesn't really know how to do it, so he instructs him: "This is the wall at which we ask God for all things, where we lift our anguish to Him, and leave our worst worries to His care."
Obama says: "That's lovely. What did you ask God for?"
Old man: "I asked for an end to violence in Israel, and peace and a separate homeland for the poor Palestinians we displaced as I have every day since the Balfour agreement."
Obama asks: "And you feel that is helping?"
Old man shrugs as he replies: "ITS LIKE TALKING TO A ******** WALL!"

Anyway this isn't a thread about the political situation in Nepal etc its just a cool picture where you can see the curvature of the earth, pretty cool if you ask me, all the crap aside.
