    Looking for an old game

A friend visited us up in the woods who was seriously addicted to his phone. Among others he played a game called Diamond Drop and it has been nagging me ever since. I very vaguely remember playing something like that eons ago and I would like to try it again - if for nothing else, then for eliminating this dreamlike uncertainty whether I really remember or whether it´s just something I put in my head somewhere. I hope some old-time gamer would help me here.

It was based on similar idea: shifting chips in columns to get threes which then disappear and clear space for new chips.
It definitely did not have diamonds; I keep remembering it with something like Mahjong chips.
It was not timed in seconds, I think the challenge might be to clear the top line before next one appears.
I think it was played by keyboard, not mouse.
It was probably a DOS program.

If anybody has any ideas, I would really like to have this sorted out.

The first experience I had with a game similar to what you are describing was Bubble Bobble for the original Nintendo which was freakin awesome but I doubt that's what you are looking for.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

There are way too many "match three" games out there for anybody to single out the one you mean.

That is the reason why I hoped you would mention a game of this type you played some 15, 20 years ago, I would look it up and see from the screens if it is the one I am trying to find.
