Good news is you do not have to learn any other language because you already use lingua franca, universal language of the planet. Unless you would like to go to some really weird places, you can live anywhere and use English. Even make your living by being a native English speaker.

EDIT: Of course, that does not mean you should not learn. Learning languages is a great hobby which provides interesting cultural insights.

        Charlize Theron

In 2007, the South African-born star became a U.S. citizen. She admits she was motivated by the convenience of being able to travel the world with an American passport. "South Africa wasn't like other countries where you're loved all over the world. When you have a South African passport, you have to get a visa for every country and it's a bit of a nightmare. It's nice to feel like I'm actually really home here," Theron said.

I would rather be able to fit a cultural norm than be the guy that everyone has to adjust and arrange what they will say before switching back to speak with everyone else. Plus if i did live somewhere else I think i would prefer to remain in a moderately smaller town rather than a big city which is where you will most likely run into non english speakers (I remember hearing that in some smaller parts of Ireland some people still only speak Gallic or "Irish" and don't know English)

I'm currently finishing up a semester of German which I have grasped pretty well but am considering stopping to pursue Swedish or Dutch or something else in the Germanic family.

Obama Voters Shocked by Obamacare Cancellations, Skyrocketing Rates

With millions of Americans receiving Obamacare-induced health insurance cancellation letters, several of President Barack Obama’s supporters are experiencing sticker shock and expressing regret.
“I was really shocked,” said Colorado Obamacare supporter Cathy Wagner upon receiving her cancellation notice. “All of my hopes were sort of dashed. Oh my gosh, President Obama, this is not what we hoped for, it’s not what we were told.”
Wagner says the same coverage will now cost her and her husband 35% more and that they will have a higher deductible.
“Our premium for next year is going up to over $1,000 a month for two of us and we’re two fairly healthy individuals,” said Wagner.
Wagner is not alone. According to the Colorado Division of Insurance, 250,000 people in Colorado have already lost their health plans in the last few months.
Obama supporters on the West Coast are experiencing similar surprises. In San Francisco, husband and wife Lee Hammack and JoEllen Brothers, who describe themselves as “cradle Democrats,” were alarmed when they received their insurance cancelation notice informing them that their previous $550 monthly premium would now be almost $1,300, their deductible would be higher, they would pay higher hospital costs, and their out-of-pocket maximum would increase.

I have little sympathy for people like this.
"It's not what we were told."
-Really? I call BS. You were absolutely told what would happen. You just ignored it, and instead chose to believe the king's lies.

I wonder if the Nobel Committee also regrets their brilliant decision..

James Carville to President Obama: Try crack pipe

Democratic strategist James Carville said Monday in light of President Barack Obama’s declining poll numbers, maybe he should take a page from an infamous Canadian mayor.
“I think the best thing he can do is take a toke on the mayor of Toronto’s crack pipe, because his numbers are about 48,” Carville joked on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” referring to Rob Ford, who has admitted smoking crack.
On a more serious note, Carville said in some ways, the falling poll numbers are overblown, and Obama’s record speaks for itself.
“I think we can stop putting the nails in the coffin here. We can admit that there’s some real, deep, fundamental problems with this president. But I think we’re throwing the dirt here too soon,” Carville said. “The deficit is dropping as a percentage of GDP faster than any time since World War II. He saved the auto industry. Health care costs are flattening better than any time in the last 20 years. Teenage pregnancy is at an all-time low.”

Pro Choice and Planned Parenthood clinics thin out the hood.

How about Spanish? Seriously. There's 435 million native Spanish speakers in this world (38.3 million in the US alone), but only 90 million native German speakers worldwide. And only 8.5 million native Swedish speakers. (Note: all numbers are from Wikipedia, so they may not be exactly accurate.)

CBS: Just 50,000 Have Enrolled Through the Federal Exchange ( Note: 3.5M+ have lost insurance! )

CBS and the Wall Street Journal report that roughly 50,000 have signed up using the federal exchange which covers enrollment in 36 states. That's in addition to the 49,100 which Reuters reports have signed up in 12 states with their own individual exchange websites.
The official numbers for the federal site will be released sometime this week by the Department of Health and Human Services. If the new estimates are accurate, the numbers reported by CBS, the WSJ and Reuters demonstrate that the administration is far behind expected enrollment numbers.

I have just never had an interest in spanish or even portuguese. In any far fetched idea i have of ever living abroad i would much rather live somewhere like a nordic country or the netherlands compared to a spanish speaking country.

Time to Start Considering Obamacare's Worst Case Scenarios

The question that many are asking is: How bad can this really get?
The answer is...worse. A lot worse.
Over the weekend, several reports suggested that, despite continued assurances that Healthcare.gov, the problem-plagued online insurance enrollment portal run by the federal government, would be running smoothly for most users by the end of the month, it increasingly looks likely that the deadline will be missed.

Can we have a single-payer system now?

                                Expansion of Medicare for all.........perhaps..?

                                ------------

P.S. I should note that I have not been personally affected by this. But I've long held the belief that a single payer system is the only true way to reform health care in our country.
