    Disappointment

I know everyone has a life choice and im cool with that, and as long as youre happy then continue doing it.

I introduced a friend, his name is czar on the forums here, to snus and he quit smoking for over 2 months.

He praised snus for saving him from cigs and how much better he feels.

The other day i hit him up to see if maybe he wanted to buy some skruf start los from me (IF ANYONES INTERESTED I POSTED MY OFFER IN THE SNUS EXCHANGE) and he said nah, hes started smoking again and isnt interested.

I just cant believe someone who has been smoke free for that long picks the habit back up.

To anyone who is chossing to quit smoking please realize that you are in a sense saving your own life.

If you enjoy a cig then by all means continue doing so.

Im not disappointed in the fact he started back, im disappointed he lied to himself and let himself down.

SO he is smoking and no longer using snus??? Wow, that's just bizarre to me. Smoking, a bit or a lot even? Sure, I understand that. But no more snus??? I don't get that.

When I had some one staying with me for a few weeks last a couple months ago who smoked, I smoked the entire time she was here. About 7 cigarettes a day at least. But I still used snus. And when she left, I no longer wanted to smoke. I just wanted snus,

I imagine I will always smoke occasionally. I even buy a pack about once a month. Actually, whenever I am riding for 8 - 12 hours. Something about motorcycles and cigarettes I just can't seem to break that one connection. But then I go right back to snus.

Wow, I think that story might be a first for this forum. At least a confirmed rejection of snus and return to the horribly overpriced, stinky, and just totally a waste of everything habit.

Sorry to here about your friends backslide to the darkside. Perhaps it isn't a permanent thing and given the cost both in dollars and health, he'll find his way back to the light. Don't stress over it. You showed him the benifits of snus so feel good about that.

As my sainted Grandfather used to say "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him float on his back".

        Yeah.

I mean like i stated, i dont care that someone chooses to smoke or whatever. Thats their choice.

But he just said because of his job having him on the road for 8 hours a day 5 days a week that he finds cigs calm him down more than snus.

But yeah, hes all the way back on the dark side

I can understand the driving and smoking thing. That's one of the hardest habits to break as far as smoking goes, in my opinion. Especially for long periods it's nice to have something to break the monotony, but it's also great for short rides. Hell, it's just fun to smoke in the car! For a while now I've kept cigarettes in the car so I can smoke while I drive. I've recently stopped because I found I was smoking more and more, but it's still a tough nut to crack.

Anyway, it was cool having czar around for a little while. He was enthusiastic. At least he knows he's got an alternative when the time comes.

I know how you feel... My father and brother both quit smoking for years before starting again... I didn't give them a hard time because I was a smoker too... My brother told me that even after 5 years smoke free he never got over the urge to smoke...

My Dad was the same way Grim. He paid to get hypnotized(sp?) and stopped for 2 years. Then he started just after he bought his Bike. He said the same thing RobsanX's brother said, he never got over the urge.

You can lead a horse to water, as they say.

If it weren't for the extreme sanctions and bans and restrictions on smoking, I'd be at it full-time. Meanwhile, I have snus...

Yup, that bike will do ya every time. At least now, after I have had my "gotta be cool on the bike fun", I slink back to my snus...until the next time I take a long ride.

I'm still going through the process. Cigarettes still have a certain control over me. They're like an ex-girlfriend who was awesome yet a bad girl. I require them for my sanity. Snus has done WONDERS for me, but can't kill my ultimate urge for an occasional bad girl, like a very strong spice in a meal, that helps you remember your mortality somehow. I'm sure that's immature at my young-ish, mid-30s age, but that's the way I feel now. I'm smoking 75%-90% less than I used to, which I think is a fantastic accomplishment in itself.

I'm not condoning smoking. I've been pushing snus to people like I own the stuff. I'm just saying that most of us can relate to the ****ing intense power of smoking addiction, which is what makes the magic of snus so unbelievable, especially when it's still relatively cheap for so many people compared to smoking. In other words, we've all had that friend who you convince to break up with some nasty chick/dude, but he/she goes back to her/him eventually because he/she liked it. And you roll your eyes and realize that there was never anything you could do.
