Never a Northern Irish accent though! Proper west coast ... maybe I'm wrong Limerick or Cork??

I can't get my head around the massive differences in Irish accents.

You're right but it's a geographically imaginary border. They could live in the North. Their political beliefs may lead them to feel more British....we don't know. Geographically Ireland is a very small place so there's some intermingling. It's a bit like saying that somebody from Oxford would never live in London. As far as I'm concerned Irishness and Britishness is interchangeable but that would be in the opinion of the beholder.

My hunch is that every little bit of that roundabout makes absolute sense - and if used correctly by everyone it is a brilliant bit of town planning ... unfortunately it doesn't take in to account the fact that human beings can't really process that many bits of information at the same time and so it is flawed by unrealistic ambition. The fact that it is still there after 30 years shows a gritty determination to not give up on an idea even if it doesn't work in practice.

You can't get more British than that!
that's what we will be saying about obummercare in about 30 years.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

But trust me ... that accent is pure Republic ... maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt it ... accent can be cultural as well as geographical. And that appears to be the case more in Ireland than it is in England.

Anyway ... I'm still trying to get my head around why trebil can't understand this:

and it's Are you being served ... not you are being served!
