About roundabouts, take a look at this monstrosity that was built just down the road from me:

According to the Google, it's a pretty innovative thing.

Read more about it here and here . There are 6 of these in the US, this being the newest.

People can't drive on the right here. Imaging the clusterfsck of telling people to switch sides. It would certainly thin the herd, and end up being a net positive, but I'd be avoiding the roads for a few years, especially on Sundays, and religious holidays when everyone that has no business driving a death machine, goes out and drives a death machine.

Before 1967 Sweden drove on the left just like in Britain, but Norway and Finland drove on the right - making the borders interesting!

Anyway on 3rd September 1967 - they just switched over to the right .... and this is what happened!

Lansing, MI––A recently discovered DVD found in the attic of the Williams family last night has shed light on the language and accent used by the Son of God while on earth, the Lansing family is reporting this morning.
After close to 2,000 years, the mystery of Jesus’ dialect and accent was answered after the Williams family’s stunning find while watching a DVD of the 1977 television miniseries of Jesus of Nazareth produced by the BBC.
The 2-DVD set, which many in the Williams family believed was “lost forever” showed Jesus of Nazareth speaking in English, a shocking revelation to many who long believed he spoke Aramaic.
“We simply couldn’t believe our ears,” Jan Williams, 54, reported to EOTT this morning.
“I remember, Jesus finally appears in the movie, ready to be baptized by John the Baptist, and John says something like, ‘It is I who needs to be baptized by you, and yet, you come to me.’ Then Jesus says, ‘Let it be so…we must fulfill all righteousness’ in the most spectacular British accent.”
19-year-old Wendy Williams reported that his british accent was not only ”stirring,” but that it also contained the dramatic inflection and timing of a “wonderful” stage actor.
“It was as though you were listening to the renowned British actor Robert Powell.”
At press time, biblical scholars from around the globe are investigating reports that Jesus yelled a lot, and that he did not bleed as much as portrayed in The Passion of the Christ.
                  Was that Wendy O Williams?

That's Jesus alright. He wearing his new blue contact lenzes in that photo.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I remember reading in a Swedish culture book that the switch from left to right resulted in 0 accidents that day.Perhaps that book was wrong or this picture is from something different.

Technically speaking roundabouts are the most efficient system at keeping traffic low and causing few accidents at a place that used to be a busy intersection. The problem being that the people that design these intend for all people to have some intelligence.....which not all people have. In America we have our incredibly dangerous "yield on green" lights which is incredibly reckless and literally puts your life at risk by allowing random people to make the decision whether they should go or not and in cities that have grown more rapidly than anticipating you can be stuck at one of these yield on greens for awhile basically saying F*** it and going once lights have gone red on both sides and you cut people off in the cross traffic getting through. And not all of these yield on greens are great. I myself have personally been at fault in an accident because of one of these where the other side of the road is unseeable because of elevation or because the left turn lane on the other side of the street blocks your view of the straight traffic. Looking at a picture of this in England though is incredibly difficult to process simply because you are trying to reverse everything from our american point of view. I do have a roundabout here in my college town where I live that works really great because it is one lane and replaced a busy intersection in downtown Normal, IL that typically has a lot of dipshit young drunk college students crossing all the time.

My personal experience with Britain is simply as a young teenager over xbox live where you just shout racial slurs at eachother over games of halo 2. Their assholishness coincides with our american assholishness in a perfect storm over correct grammar. You called it crisps so I'm going to tell you how stupid your barbaric English is while you called it chips so I'm going to tell you how stupid your English is when we should really be blaming the Frisians for breaking off and developing Old English and Old Frisian into two separate languages.

I think you'll find the correct term is arseholery.

                            :-)
