Well of course the simple answer is yes. But as a hungry musician trying to put shoes on my children's feet ... perhaps you'll forgive this shameless plug for my band's christmas single out on december 1st???
It's based around a traditional play called a mummers play that was very commonly performed in all parts of Britain and Ireland by farm workers during the lean winter months to raise a little money from the richer in society until the first world war. Some of these traditional plays are still maintained and performed to this day including one very close to my heart in Headington near Oxford (I've only missed 4 years watching it in the past 34 years!)
In fact we're going to donate all the band profits to the DEC (disasters and emergency committee) where it will help to fund aid to those suffering throughout the Xmas period as part of the Philippines Typhoon Appeal. So maybe I'm not being as cynical as I first made out ... damn!
