discover? HA! I knew this was going to happen the moment this "law" was passed... According to Coventry Health, my plan is good until the term date is up, which is like February...
This health care shit is pretty similar to a problem we're having where I work. People in charge have no idea when to identify a sunk cost.
We opened up a new call center in a location within the U.S which I will not reveal for anonymity reasons. At this location it is just a revolving door of employees that have no idea/no desire how to do their job properly. Because they refuse/don't know how to do their job they are writing incredibly high risk policies at incredibly low risk prices. Typically the policies are so high risk they end up getting cancelled. Every effort has been made to get them to do their job properly but it just does not work. Overall I think it is just the general location. I certainly don't want to generalize and say everyone in this area is stupid, but everyone my company is hiring from that location is stupid. They are jamming our underwriters with incredibly terrible policies that they have to cancel or rewrite at a higher price, they are being rude and unhelpful to our customers, and the policies they write are being cancelled in such large volumes that our entire company is suffering because we will receive a reduced end of year bonus because of the high number of cancellations. That's not just the quote reps that's executives, accountanst, PR managers, everyone is suffering because of their incompetency.
Instead of calling it a lost cause and shutting the place down they keep throwing more money at it hoping it will somehow start to work and it is all for nothing. This is the same situation with Obamacare. Call it a good idea or a bad one it is not working out. It can not work out and everyone is suffering. Spending more time/effort/ and energy on it will not make it improve or work. A sunk cost is basically something you spent money on...it didn't work..and you need to cut your losses and move on. Both my company and obamacare can not seem to do this. For both instances the people in charge seem certain that it will eventually work out if they just keep spending more time and money on it when in reality it is nothing more but a sunk cost that keeps growing.
Sorry if noone cares but I was just thinking about this comparison today as yet another customer called and asked why we were cancelling them because we gave them a price as if they were a 35 year old married male with no tickets or accidents when in reality he had 3 DUI's and was involved in a fatal car accident.
What do you think is going to happen on January 1 when millions of Americans discover they don't have health insurance anymore?
I'll be getting ready for the fallout by cleaning and loading my guns.
I received 3 different speed loaders today in the mail that can handle just about every caliber.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......
I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
The health insurance crisis started long before Obama came into office. My employer's family plan is slightly over $1700.00 per month and the pitch in $500.00 towards it. From what I understand, we have a lot of retirees in our group raising the rates.
Where I come from (it's in the avatar) every single problem known to man in any political way whatsoever (including everything done since Obama was in office) was and still is caused by one man and one man only: George W. Bush!
And re: guns and ammo (PP) .......(because the Mods are dead set against this stuff: and I agree with them) I'll just say that you might consider yourself kinda lucky.
I don't understand where you guys get insurance lol. My employer's insurance is about $140 for me. Of course they pay some on it too. But it's fairly decent. Are you guys getting mega ultra coverage or something?

@Dan....what do you mean by this..."because the Mods are dead set against this stuff"? What stuff? What mods?
just wondering

So $ 140 is not the total.......some employers pay the largest portion, 75% in my wife's case for example. I compared on the Nevada site for myself and coverage was close to what I have now, but the deductible was way higher, attractive at first blush, but a lot more money in a year's time if you use it.

I've had healthcare insurance all my life. There was always zero deductible and the co-pays are like $5 for a PCP visit and $20 for a specialist visit. Drug co-pays range anywhere from FREE to $25 per script. My insurance is a PPO which means everything is covered in my network. If I decide to go out of my network I have a 20% co-insurance. I don't know about you, but these Obamacare deductibles that range anywhere from $500 to $10,000 are insane! Additionally, my current plan is much cheaper than Obama's best plan and is far more comprehensive.
I had a $100K hospital stay a few years back.... cost me zero.... zip! Everything was covered by my health insurance. Finally, my health insurance is a BlueCross/BlueShield product. Oh... and my monthly out of pocket share to be in the plan (actual cost of the plan) is $200 per month... that's it! Obama wants like $600 a month and a $5000 deductible! My plan also covers vision and dental.... something Obama does not offer.

I retired, but was allowed to stay on my employers group plan (discounted), as long as I pay ALL of the premium. It's a good Blue Cross plan for my wife and I, and it's over $1,200 per month. $140 must be almost no coverage at all. Mines gone up $300 per month in the last two years. I checked the Obamacare Exchange, and it will cost me $1,500 per month for worse insurance. They co-pays are doubled, and the deductibles are ridiculously huge. Thank god I've kept mine so far. Blue Cross has spent over a million dollars keeping me alive for the last three years without questioning one dollar of my treatment. If I had to go on government sponsored insurance, I'd be broke from co-pays and deductibles. And...I'm still waiting for the $2,500 in annual savings that the President said I'd see. I haven't met one doctor that feels good about any of this.
I think it's absurd that healthcare, and education for that matter are for-profit businesses. Healthcare should be universal. So should education. Our country is far from broke. The taxing is just FAR out of proportion. Do you think it's right for me to pay more taxes in percentage AND dollar amount than General Electric?
