Phil Robertson: You got to marry girls when they are 15 or 16

Unpleasant video footage of reinstated Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson has emerged in which he appears to advise young men to marry underage girls because they are easier to control.
In the 2009 Sportsmen's Ministry talk, Robertson, 67, who began dating his wife when she was 14-years-old, advises his audience, 'You got to marry these girls when they are 15 or 16. They'll pick your ducks' - which is a literal reference to removing dead bird's feathers.
Warming to his stereotypical redneck theme, Robertson, who was suspended from the A&E hit for nine days earlier this month for homophobic comments, tells the gathered crowd that in addition to being young, the girls have to know how to cook and carry a Bible - 'That'll save you a lot of trouble down the road.'
While the speech given in Georgia is recounted in a somewhat tongue-in-cheek manner, in light of Robertson's strong views on traditional family values - protected by the First Amendment - they seem slightly inappropriate.
His advice for a happy marriage, which he claims is a kind of 'river rat counseling', is that all men 'Make sure that she can cook a meal. You need to eat some meals that she cooks, check that out.'

Not really a big deal in his neck of the woods...sometimes it's a cousin. Some southern states have a lower age of consent. 2009? How many years back are they gonna dig for dirt? He probably called a classmate a "booger head" when he was ten.

To be honest..... I don't see what the fuss is about. I've heard my great uncles say far more offensive things about far larger demographics. I guess they oughta have their own reality show.

I'm not sure what the big deal is either. My grandparents were both teenagers when they married, but my grandmother's younger sister was 19 when she married a man who was 41. They got along just fine. They made a good life and raised a family together.

There are many things I could do with a 15 or 16 yo gal.... many of which aren't legal. Marrying one isn't even on the list.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

quite the opposite Dear. I could easily [and happily] make them useless for the rest of mankind.

I'd feel safe. How bad could I hurt myself in three minutes, anyway?

I really don't understand why people need to bring the bible into anything at all. It's what throws me off about this guy, Tim Tebow, and anyone else who constantly wants to bring it up. There are 2 sides. Believers and non believers and no matter what you say to one they aren't going to switch sides and these people somehow havent realized it yet. It's ok to be proud of your opinion on the matter but to think you are actually going to change anyone's mind with your words is stupid and proven wrong.

I don't think this guy should be shamed for what he has said/done but holy shit who cares he is a guy on a reality tv show. Reality tv, the lowest form of entertainment on the planet. The main demographics is 14-19 year old kids, and the whole world seems to care. I don't get it.
