So just asking what version should I put on. I've heard a lot of negativity about 8 and wondering since I have to buy the software what should I go with? Any help as always is greatly appreciated....

I'd never buy old software, so I'd get Win8. It's different than older versions of Windows, but not by much. People are complainers. They have a point about MS changing stuff that doesn't need changing, but that's what you sign up for when you get proprietary software.
