Let me add to what Rick just said.
No merchant buys protection on this site..........their product, service, and customer care will stand or fall on its own merit. That will be an understanding that is conveyed at point of sale.
In turn, no participant on this site (member or merchant) has to buy courtesy and respect.........we offer those to all for free.
And just to clarify.......if ownership decides to sell ads (for now we have just been told to make the site ad ready), those ads will be only from those within the snus industry. They will not be google pop up banners or intrusive click boxes......in all likelihood, all ads will be regulated to a specially designated space on the forum where they will alert members to deals, specials, and new products............which we then hope will dovetail into the merchants engaging members on the general threads of the forum on a regular basis (ie be a part of the forum life)......much like we saw Roderic from Toque snuff do yesterday
and my guess is that our friend Rickcharles had a direct hand in Roderick's presence........as a test case ...as we are getting ready for more of the same.
I have always been in support of more industry and direct merchant involvement........our own dear GN is a perfect example of how such exchanges can be mutually beneficial to merchants and members alike...and in turn help the greater cause of snus and harm reduction.
The more access we have to them and they to us....the better off we all are in the end.
This is not a sell out.....but a drawing in of the best of the best in the snus/snuff industry under one roof...our roof.......no banners, no protection, but rather honest constructive discussion, requests for a snus you would really like to see made, and heads up to deals, free shipping, and new releases........before anyone else knows

Snusdog ... as I said, I didn't have a real problem otherwise I would have flagged it up earlier. And I'm honoured (note the correct spelling!) that it was considered worthy of going up actually - but I would definitely have appreciated a PM to make sure.
I don't have a problem with sponsors or advertisements on the site per se, but like wa3zrm (I wish I could pronounce that name in my head!), I am slightly perturbed at the thought of the forum running scared of criticising the big boys like Northerner who will undoubtedly be the most likely advertising clients. At times the threads about problems with Northerner orders and customer service have been verging on the abusive and potentially very damaging to their sales - but at the same time it has performed the amazing service of warning readers of SnusOn about very real problems with ordering from that company. I'd hate to see a forum where that conflict of interests manifests itself in the dumbing down of what we feel we can write for similar cases.Squeezyjohn

As long as the criticism is concrete and respectful (not just personal attacks or flame outs) it stands. This site will be of no use to members or merchants if its informational integrity is diminished.
Now when a company shorts you 100 pounds there may be a moment when a good rant is in order. That is what the basement (chatbox) is for.....blow off the steam and come back and articulate what happened in a way that can warn/benefit the other members on this site in their purchase making decisions
And by the way, throughout the whole debacle that you went through.....your criticism minced no words, pulled no punches, and was exactly the kind of response that is helpful to others.
And while those that will advertise.....if that indeed comes to fruition.......is beyond my scope of duty.....I would not be too certain that Northerner will be first in line........I hope they will be involved......but if they do I would expect them to have some of the past trends cleaned up before they spend money to have everyone here tell the world that the ship is still taking on water.When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Fine - thanks for clearing that up dog.
All I will say further is that this kind of sentiment is a fine line to tread in reality. Money buys power in most cases, and that can lead to censorship and misinformation unless there are hard and fast rules in place to protect the truth being said.
And also please could all the mods and owners bear in mind that anger and frustration is a perfectly natural human response to being screwed over or treated badly by companies. The companies know this ... and I am certain that it is the policy of some to frustrate to the point of anger and when that anger spills over in communications they can wash their hands of the whole problem because they can claim abuse by the customer. That way only the most calm and articulate people stand a chance of getting genuine refunds paid or incorrect/defective orders rectified and the company saves money.
It's a nasty business, but it happens. I hope that is taken in to account when the anger is expressed here. I'm sure we all try our best to maintain politeness and courtesy even when angry - but I understand when that breaks down.Squeezyjohn
