This is probably the best and trusted source for schizophrenia ..

    http://www.schizophrenia.com/prevent...reetdrugs.html

Overview: Use of street drugs (including LSD,methamphetamine,marijuana/hash/cannabis) and alcohol have been linked with significantly increased probability of developing psychosis and schizophrenia. This link has been documented in over 30 different scientific studies (studies done mostly in the UK, Australia and Sweden) over the past 20 years. In one example, a study interviewed 50,000 members of the Swedish Army about their drug consumption and followed up with them later in life. Those who were heavy consumers of cannabis at age 18 were over 600% more likely to be diagnosed with schizophrenia over the next 15 years than those did not take it. (see diagram below). Experts estimate that between 8% and 13% of all schizophrenia cases are linked to marijuna / cannabis use during teen years.

Overdoing cannabis may lead to schizophrenia ... I know two girls that went schizo from cannabis use.... they were on it for no more than one or two years......

As far as I'm documented schizophrenia can have a lot more causes as social factors, family issues ... etc.....

Lol. A drug induced psychosis is just a short lived psychosis one experiences after taking too much of any given drug. It quickly goes away (well, LSD not so much). I cannot believe we still live in a time where big tobacco claims nicotine isn't addictive, and where people believe smoking mj will make you crazy because one time this one rockstar went crazy.

Something like 60% of Americans have smoked weed during their life, I think we'd be seing a much higher instance of bat-shiat-crazyness than we are now if it made 13% of people crazy or whatever.

Cannabis is not for everyone, just as much as alcohol is not for everyone.

When was the last time you heard about a man beating the shit out of his wife, and raping her, solely due to his use of cannabis?

You can't. What about alcohol? It happens all the time.

Alcohol may encourage aggression or violence by disrupting normal brain function. According to the disinhibition hypothesis, for example, alcohol weakens brain mechanisms that normally restrain impulsive behaviors, including inappropriate aggression. By impairing information processing, alcohol can also lead a person to misjudge social cues, thereby overreacting to a perceived threat. Simultaneously, a narrowing of attention may lead to an inaccurate assessment of the future risks of acting on an immediate violent impulse.

                  ... and cannabis?

No, the real number if I recall is like 42% or something, but a lot of people polled don't want to admit they have I suspect.

There is no convincing scientific evidence that marijuana causes psychological damage or mental illness in either teenagers or adults. Some marijuana users experience psychological distress following marijuana ingestion, which may include feelings of panic, anxiety, and paranoia. Such experiences can be frightening, but the effects are temporary. With very large doses, marijuana can cause temporary toxic psychosis. This occurs rarely, and almost always when marijuana is eaten rather than smoked. Marijuana does not cause profound changes in people's behavior.

                                No, it doesn't.

"Not only has modern science refuted the notion that marijuana is neurotoxic, recent scientific discoveries have indicated that cannabinoids are, in fact, neuroprotective, particularly against alcohol-induced brain damage. In a recent preclinical study -- the irony of which is obvious to anyone who reads it -- researchers at the US National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH) reported that the administration of the non-psychoactive cannabinoid cannabidiol (CBD) reduced ethanol-induced cell death in the brain by up to 60 percent."
