That was a pretty cool video.

Plants use us just like we use them, but chew on this:

The universe is a million dead and barren spheres rotating around each other as part of a giant system. For whatever reason, at some point in time all the right conditions happened for DNA/RNA to form and give rise to the first life. We don't know where it started, but we do know this: It is like a cancer. See, this simple combination of compounds that contains the ingredients for life (dna/rna as far as we know) can land on a planet like earth and even though it's a barren wasteland it will find a way to reproduce and propegate itself. The information contained in this basic building block of life has the power to take any form of life that it must to survive, it grows from single celled organisms to prokaryotic bacteria to larger plants and animals. It fills this barren rock with life in every single crevice, it takes a million forms that are all interdependant on themselves and creates a complex and biologically diverse habitat structured in a way so that no one thing can ever kill it. No asteroid, no global warming, no major earthquake or change in the atmosphere can ever kill it. Once it gets a foothold it can seemingly never be killed, and worse it spreads easily because chunks of rock from earth routinely get sprayed up into the atmosphere and can travel for incredible distances and find itself on other planets. If the conditions are right, life will start there too.

Don't you see, it's a cancer. It is a genetic virus that can be planted all over the place and grow pretty much wherever there is water and other essential compounds. And here's a mind****: You, me, your ancestors, and every single plants and animal on this entire planet are all, at the very base level, the result of this cancer that spreads itself around the universe. The cancer is so dynamic, so incredibly able to adapt to any condition, that it has created everything around you just to keep itself alive.

We are all the same cancer helping spread ourself throughout the universe. All one, and if what we know is true about how life can lie dormant in asteroids and deposit itself at great distances away from the home body, this cancer has almost surely been spreading itself for billions of years elsewhere. Like how cancer establishes itself around the blood vessels so it can support itself, life establishes itself around water and perhaps other common compounds found on earth or elsewhere, or maybe it is even more dynamic and can survive in even harsher conditions than the corrosive oxygen rich environments like earth. We breath corrosive fumes to sustain ourselves, we are the cancer. And I love it, let's take this shit the **** over.

Edit: This is what I refer to as "mother nature". It is life, all one thing that just appears as independent objects, but really all just one thing spreading itself to every corner of the earth and beyond. We are all one.

        Washington (US)

SEATTLE — Gov. Chris Gregoire says she won't sign legislation to create licensed medical marijuana dispensaries in Washington state after the Justice Department warned it could result in a federal crackdown.

The two U.S. attorneys in the state told Gregoire in a letter Thursday that bills passed by the Washington House and Senate would permit large-scale marijuana growing and distribution systems in violation of federal law. They warned that growers, sellers, landlords and even state employees who license such operations could face prosecution.

Gregoire says there's no way she can sign a law that would open state employees to federal prosecution. But she says there are problems with the state's medical marijuana law that make it difficult for sick people to get the drug, and she'll cooperate with lawmakers to address those problems.

It continues to baffle me that there are people in this world afraid of marijuana. I mean I understand that it makes the elite itchy, because it has the ability to inspire true insight in the ranks of the rabble, but a regular work-a-day shmuck wringing his hands over the possibility of a couple of folks openly discussing use of a substance blows my mind.

I mean, lets say you get beyond the benefit analysis, concede that marijuana is a substance, just like alcohol, ripe with opportunities for abuse and self-destruction (as and aside for those of us with thin brain-to-keyboard filters and itchy enter fingers: I don't believe this), you are left with the question: why shouldn't we talk about it? What occurrence in the history of all intellectual thought can you site that found its genesis fearful silence? I guess that I am basing this criticism on the foundation that intellectual growth and exploration is beneficial, and maybe that is not acceptable to those of us that find ourselves just trying to grab a sliver of stability through willful ignorance in this terrible, scary world, but there is no debate on the the pros and cons of being blind, so I cannot compensate for that. I will say that I understand that notion, I truly do, but the sooner we accept that expanding our minds is really the only productive undertaking of the individual human experience, the sooner we can get this metaphorical car off the blocks in the front lawn and rolling down the street.

I know this is something of a non sequitur, that we have moved beyond the close-minded yokel portion of this thread, I just felt compelled to add my two cents. Open your minds people, they are truly all you have. Remember that perception is totally subjective and, as many a various crazy member of my own personal paranoid delusional family would say: you can either be somebody, or be somebody's fool. (I like to think I am my own fool, to answer the most obvious snipe here.)

So I was cleaning out the ol grinder a few minutes ago and decided to take a snuff of keif. Well it left a good smell in my nose but no noticeable effects. Yes I'm aware of the whole fat soluble heat activated whatnots, but I was just thinking that a cannabis nasal snuff that got you high would be awesome!

                Yeah, im toasted...

Here's an idea... Add a thin coat of hemp seed oil to the snuff. That should provide the essential fat needed for the THC to activate (without affecting the scent and flavor).

Mayor, Council, and City Attorney Ask Legislature to Stand Up to Governor Gregoire

In a Rare Moment of Unity, Mayor, Council, and City Attorney Ask Legislature to Stand Up to Gregoire on Med-Pot Bill
Written by Dominic Holden [The Stranger]

Although Governor Gregoire has indicated she will veto a medical marijuana bill unless the legislature waters down key protections for patients and their providers—making a specious claim about running afoul of federal law—every elected official at Seattle's City Hall has signed a letter telling them not to back down. It's pretty great:

"The question we face is not whether or not we are going to have medical marijuana use in Washington State. The voters already decided that question more than a decade ago. The question we face is whether or not we will have a thoughtful and rational regulatory framework for the production, processing, and distribution of medical marijuana. In its current form SB 5073 provides much needed clarity to this important issue and we urge you to adopt it and send it to the Governor."

                      Good show, City Hall.
                      April 19, 2011

Dear Honorable Members of the Washington State Senate:

As Seattle’s elected Mayor, Councilmembers, and City Attorney, we stand together urging you to concur with the House amendments to SB 5073 and to send the bill to Governor Gregoire.

Medical marijuana has been permitted under Washington state law for more than a decade, but there has never been clarity regarding how medical marijuana is to be produced, processed, and distributed. As a local government, we deal firsthand with the problems this lack of clarity in the law has led to: confusion for law enforcement personnel, a proliferation of dispensaries across the City (at last count we had over 30 in Seattle), an inability to regulate and site them properly, and uncertainty for patients and their doctors about how to act within the confines of the law. In short, the entire system operates in a legal gray zone that serves nobody’s interests except those who would exploit the system.

SB 5073, although not perfect, will put in place a comprehensive, consistent, coherent, and rational medical marijuana regulatory system. It spells out precisely how dispensaries and production facilities can operate in a way that provides legitimate patients with medical marijuana, gives local governments the tools we need to help protect the health and safety of our communities, and provides much-needed clarity for law enforcement.

In addition, we view the recent letter from the United States Attorneys as a simple restatement of the Department of Justice’s longstanding approach to medical marijuana. As a practical matter, we can look to the fifteen other states where medical marijuana is legal and the six states that have clear dispensary laws. The federal government has never prosecuted a state employee engaged in the implementation or regulation of one of these state laws. Indeed, city and state employees have already been involved with regulating dispensaries even in their current amorphous state—city police officers sometimes visit dispensaries to address neighbor complaints or monitor potential public safety issues, city licensing authorities issue business licenses to dispensaries, and the state Department of Revenue collects sales tax from some dispensaries. We have heard no federal criticism of these regulatory activities and certainly have not received any threats of prosecution.

The question we face is not whether or not we are going to have medical marijuana use in Washington State. The voters already decided that question more than a decade ago. The question we face is whether or not we will have a thoughtful and rational regulatory framework for the production, processing, and distribution of medical marijuana. In its current form SB 5073 provides much needed clarity to this important issue and we urge you to adopt it and send it to the Governor.
