1. MJ is the largest cash crop in California
2. the prices are already low. everyone, growers, dealers and clubs are already competing for your business with THE BEST at the best price.
3. growing cannabis indoors is not cheap. AC bills, must be grown under 80 degrees and those lights are HOT!), growing medium, fertilizers, vegging time, flowering time, drying time, curing time, what if it molds? etc etc
All these things require time and space
Space X time X strain type X out of pocket expense X competition= can you make a profit now? Can you buy it cheaper than growing your own?
here, now= already hard

I saw it and as always it delivered. Really south park is the most ingenious piece of comedy humor ever made. There is nothing on the planet I find funnier than south park, especially the newer ones since they seem to be dealing with current events in a tongue in cheeck kinda way.
And plus south park can do stuff no other tv show can do like have the characters bouncing around on their nuts while smoking weed and cursing.

Over the past few years the pot clubs have been a stunning example of the free market, they are all competing for your business and it has driven up quality and down prices. Especially in hollywood where there are like 5 clubs in a 10 block radius, they are always undercutting each other.
Growing indoors is expensive and time consuming, and is easier/cheaper depending on what quality of bud you are trying to grow. If you want some decent weed you gotta grow it with hydroponics, 1000 watt high pressure sodium lights, special nutrients etc, takes a lot of attention and money. But the clubs already have the bombest weed whether you like indica or sativa, grown in soil or in water, anything, and at really low prices when compared with street prices of equal quality weed from other regions.
Most other states have never even seen the type of bud available in CA, the growers here have really taken it to a completely different level and anyone whos ever been in a cannibus club can attest to that. There is a lot of money to be made here, and a lot of money to be saved by decriminalizing it.
I am voting yes on the initiative in November even though I don't smoke.
On a side note, was anyone here ever a fan of Kottonmouth King's old music?

Assuming you are using medium quality weed, since kush etc can't be tightly rolled due to it's moisture, a cig would require roughly a gram or maybe a little less. 20 cigs so somewhere close to 20 grams, more like 15. 15 grams for 15$ is extremely cheap and may be unrealistic unless you are using cheap weed but that's probably what will happen.
Also expect to have weed/tobacco laced cigs which would be cheaper.
Right now a gram of the danky danky dankness in a club would go for somewhere in the area of 20$ but that's because it's still "illegal", I would expect if corporate players got into the biz that would go down pretty cheap. I used to get grams for $5 so I don't see why corps wouldn't be able to mass produce $1-$2 grams of moderate quality weed.
Like I said, at first it will remain expensive, but over time if corps catch on, it will be severely reduced in price and taxed similarly to tobacco. That's what I think anyways.
Also keep in mind that smoking it is not the only way, our clubs sell edibles in a literally endles variety, from 3 muskateers and reeses peanut butter cups to kettle corn or cheezit crackers, it can be made into anything by replacing normal butter with cannibus butter. Vaporizers are also popular in some circles and they can really reduce the amount of weed necessary if you get a good vap like a Volcano (700$ though  ) It also eliminates literally every health side effect since using a vaporizer does not involve inhaling combusted plant material and carbon.
My buddy who owns some clubs is lobbying my wife who is a chemist to help him produce asthma inhaler style weed systems and it is already available in pill form.
The possibilities are endless here as it is such a diverse plant and can be used from everything from getting high to making t-shirts and rope. It needs to be legalized because we need the money, end of story. I hope CA doesn't fuc* this up.

Yah the volcano is way overpriced but is the best vaporized I have ever seen. The ones where you adjust the heat via a knob (the wooden ones) don't work as well imo. Plus it stores the vapor in a bag that you can pass around or store for a while and it doesn't go stale because no smoke.
But you can get a vaopirzer super cheap depending on what quality you want.

the only thing cannabis does for me, stopping nerve pain. I got into this whole medical mj scene because of pain.
I wish it was a jolly good time for me to use it. I just don't get what everyone sees in it. It doesn't make me social, I can't drive on it, it's very Cheech and Chong for me.
I enjoy growing it because I'm allowed and I think certain strains are beautiful to grow. that's it for me.
I will probably vote yes. I do think it will help bring tourism back to the state, keep your common pothead out of prison.
But Californians are much too spoiled with fabulous weed to be buying it from the 7-11.

Lol, yah I personally quit because there wasn't much redeeming value in it. It got boring and made me lazy and anti-social. It never cost me much but still for the majority it can be expensive. I grew a few plants on my friends property in bell canyon, I believe it was white kush and lavender or something along those lines and it was a pleasure to do it. They are so beautiful and cltivating them is like raising a kid, they react to their immediate environment in amazing ways and are about as alive as a plant can get.
Californians are spoiled when it comes to weed and everything else but I still think there would be a market for commercial cheap weed, just like there is for crappy cigarettes. At first you aren't going to see weed in any places like 7-11 but I suspect it will find it's way into some household k` name brand stores. There is still a stigma attached to it and I don't think most parents would agree with their kids using it, and this will be reflected in the laws that come about due to decriminalizing it, so expect it to still be heavily regulated. For example, like tobacco, I doubt they will be able to run TV ads or anything else along those lines.
In the long term, in places that have it completely legal (other countries) you see less people using it than the USA. Once it has been legal for a while the fad will die out and consumption patterns will stabilize and it won't be as popular as it is now I think, it will fall in line with how tobacco and alcohol are treated today.
Employers won't be able to deny you a job because of pissing hot but you still won't be able to be high at work, just like alcohol, and I suspect the military will have the same no use policy, even if all the states legalize it.
Tourism will be boosted for a few years but eventually other states will fall in line and submit similar legislation. Alcohol is legal just about everywhere but a lot of the bible belt etc still has heavy rules on it, like no sales on sunday and can only buy it during certain hours of the day, I suspect the same will happen with weed.
Meanwhile, such a move will (hopefully) inspire the medical researchers to study it's medicinal qualities which I still think are very minimal. It helps with pain and nausea but it isn't some wonder drug like many advertise it to be, for the most part weed is a recreational mind altering substance like alcohol and will probably never be anything more.

I guess you need to live in chronic pain to see it's powerful relieving qualities. it really does work, or I would have never sought it out. for people with MS, lupus, etc. when all else fails start here.
but why would being lazy and forgetful and anti-social appeal....it's beyond me.
I do believe there are people that don't get those feelings and can function as usual. I have seen them. we just aren't like those people.

Like I said it's got it's uses, but is not a wonder drug. It is a great pain management tool that can be used for extended periods without the dependancy risks you get from oxycontin or vikodin. But it doesn't cure cancer or any of these things I constantly hear people claiming.
Weed seems to work differently depending on the person. People with ADD it makes hyper, while other it makes sluggish. For me it started giving me heart palpetations that I eventually had to go to the Dr for, but they said it was all in my head so who knows.
It was fun when I was a kid but honestly smoking just makes me want to eat and then go to bed. Nothing else. I don't get all giggly like I did when i was 18.
