Have you seen the tech our riot police have? Microwave cannons and sound beams. TX, in the marines did they have you go through the gas chamber in basic to experience what CS gas (riot controll grade tear gas) feels like?

A riot would suck. We need something big, but I don't envy those in greece right now.

I remember once in the gas chamber a guy panicked and ran for the door - the sergeant was standing at the door, punched him and knocked him out.

If you added up all the gang mudrers in America it would be 9/11 times 2356.

Just on the southern border tom. In Juarez right now they've had over 5k deaths in the last year. That's more soldiers than we've lost in 8 years in Iraq. Think about that for a minute. And that is spilling over to arizona etc, and people are too worried about being PC to stop it. These activists favor the murder of innocent women and children, and hundreds of kidnapping over potentially hurting someones feelings by burdening them to show their driverse license at a traffic stop. It's sick. Anyone who is in the open borders crowd supports the crime happening on our southern borders. In the south there is a war more serious and against better trained opponents than anywhere in the middle east. These people are more ruthless than the taliban could ever be. But our citizens support war when it's far away and out of sight, and are ignorant to the terrorism happening every hour of every day in our own country.

The crime and death associated with prohibition, is a bigger worse toll, than if it was legal. Sure people might smoke it, and drive, and kids might, but they do now anyway, but legalizing it would better control it, make revenue off it, and hurt the criminals that deal in it. Legalization and taxing it just makes sense, though I also think it should be legal to grow your own.

We are not better off then we were 2 decades ago when this war started so it is obvious that it is time change. The argument of if it is legal then more people will use has proven to be false in Europe.

Just because they sell Everclear or 152 Bacardi does not mean that most people are impulsed to buy those at the liquor store! Just like a tin of crack rocks that will keep me up for week will not be on my list!

I am also a member of LEAP. I think Marijuana should be the first thing that is legalized. Especially, for it's hemp properties. Hemp can be used in the production of many items. I think the best use is paper. We could drastically reduce the number of forests being demolished. The first American flags and even the drafts for the Declaration of Independence were made from hemp.

It's just like the days of prohibition. When alcohol was made legal again, all the gangsters went out of business. If you can find a way to tax and regulate the product then the cartels lose their motive and customers.

It would also decrease prison overcrowding, allowing truly violent criminals to serve longer sentences. The sentences they deserve. In my county alone, many violent and repeat offenders are given deferred or suspended sentences due to the system being overloaded. They even receive suspended sentences while still on probation for another suspended sentence.

The War on Drugs is a joke, a waste of money, and is slowing down the wheels of the justice system.

People will argue that we already have enough problems with alcohol in this country and intoxicated drivers killing others. Legalizing would not change the numbers any. If anything, it would free up resources in the system to properly punish/treat those convicted of driving under the influence of intoxicants. Most people convicted of killing a family of five while behind the wheel are not first-time offenders and have a lengthy history of DUI's where the system continues to put them back on the street. It would also free up the system to properly punish those who are irresponsible with intoxicants and endanger their children.

Actually, the primary drug plaguing our society and teens is not illegal. The most abused drug is narcotic pain killers. A drug marketed by our government and approved by the FDA. I speak from the frontlines of this war, as I too am a law enforcement officer.

I work in the police property room building, and they must have tons of old pot stored up here, because the place reeks of it.

Then you just have to deal with the mafia black market?

LOL - I don't really care one way or another about legalization. I suppose I'm for less laws in general and having laws that everyone breaks, IMO, leads to a decrease in respect for the law.

But the meme we have here is that taxing and regulating tobacco = expanding black market and more crime.
