NonServiam,
You are an awesome member of law enforcement. I truly wish more members of the criminal justice system could see through the hypocrisy of the drug war like you do. And on top of that you were even against the idea of random home searches (even for welfare recipients this is not a move in the right direction). In a time when the police state grows larger and larger, hats off to people like you who have common sense and a basic understanding of an individual's rights. Kudos.

I will direct to my post about 5 above yours here, where I said:
"I don't think i'm on board to legalize everything, even though i think it would probably do some good, but mary j is a no brainer. Call me in november when we legalize it here in CA. "
In the post you quoted I was referring to the opium and cocaine trade in particular, not weed.
I'm from Santa Cruz, pretty close to humboldt which is the weed capitol of CA, and I have 2 friends that own cannibis clubs here and in several other states. I am very positive it's going to be legal this year

I didn't become a cop to push people around or to verbally degrade them just because I can. I became a cop to protect those who are truly innocent and to hold people accountable for their irresponsible and reckless actions. I try not to be a pawn for the government's self-serving policies. But, I am far from a renegade. I clock-in, do my job, and hopefully clock-out and return home. Always treating people with respect and professionalism...as long as they reciprocate. I think something else that drew me to law enforcement was my interest in human behavior, sociology, and psychology, not to mention the pretty flashing lights and sirens. C'mon you know you like the pretty red & blues too (as long as their not in your rear view mirror).
P.S. Don't misunderstand me. If I see some kids smoking weed behind a gas station I'm not gonna just give them a wave and buy them some Cheetos. They are definitely going to be having a conversation with me, and then with their parents. However, if they mistake my kindness for weakness, act like an ass, or I've warned them before, then in the backseat they go.

What would be fascist is if they had random drug screenings for every citizen. What is not fascist is saying that if on welfare or unemployment you must be a) actively looking for work or persuing education, and b) pass routine drug tests.
People who think it's American to live off the government (taxpayers) money yet have no responsibility are the reason why we are bankrupt. It's somehow fascist to ask people to not spend our taxpayer money on drugs, go figure.

God, what planet are you on man for real. You are out of your freaking mind if you think the shit we have here nowadays is not more potent than 20 years ago. It's simple botany, they selectively grow and breed clones for their increased thc content and after many generations of doign that the seed produces a plant that has increased thc levels. Reefer madness, who the hell is talking about Reagan era government propaganda? I'm talking about how the weed we have now is superior to weed from 20 years ago, there is no way that selective breeding and increased methods of nutrient treatments etc over multiple generations would do ANYTHING other than produce more potency. It's not like it's a bad thing it's a good thing, embrace it.
Marijuana more potent than ever
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/boos...uana-more.html
Marijuana is more potent than at any time since scientific analysis of the drug began in the 1970s, according to a report from the University of Mississippi’s Potency Monitoring Project. The average amount of THC in marijuana, the primary psychoactive ingredient in the drug, was tested at 9.6% --more than double the potency of marijuana in 1983.
The highest concentration of THC found in a single sample was 37.2%.

Lol, we must have the same friends.
