Hey Grim, they're a good brewery - and their pubs over here are quite cheap too. I take it you're drinking from a bottled one - the draught ones are very different - much less fizzy, but both are good.
If you're looking for some other suggestions the popular one which used to be brewed in my home town, Abingdon is Old Speckled Hen. Named after a type of MG sports car (until the 80s all MGs were made in Abingdon too). I also like anything from the Shepherd Neame Brewery that comes in bottles and if you can get hold of Black Sheep Riggwelter - that's one of the best bottles too (a bit dark like the Taddy) - apparently it's the original recipe for Old Peculiar.
No idea where you might go about finding them over there though! Mind you if you can get snus from sweden ...
And it's Englishmen / women

If you like the Taddy Porter, try the Oatmeal Stout...it's thick and a little smoky, but without that bitter bite that Guinness has. I've seen it around here in GA and in FL, too. I don't know what part of GA you're in, but I'm down south, like almost to Jax. If you can't find any and you want to try some, I might be able to hook you up.
Bottled Guinness isn't as good as it used to be. They make it in Canada now, and it's lacking compared to the Irish made product from years ago. I still like it, but there's others I prefer. Globalization sucks :^/
I don't drink many British beers, but I used to drink John Courage a lot.
Guinness is a staple for me... Not many places here have it on tap, but I like those funky "Draught" cans that they have...
Well to tie that one up - my favourite bottled beer was always Courage's Russian Imperial Stout. As a stout it was dark like bottled Guinness, but it was a different drink entirely - what we call a barley wine. It was 10% alcohol for a start, came in tiny little wineglass sized bottles and was incredibly thick textured and sweet as well as incredibly strong flavoured and bitter. I loved it - shame the last batch was 1994!
Sam Smiths make an Imperial Stout, it's only 7% but it's as close as you'll get now.

Me is originally from the UK and love Old Speckled Hen but it doesn't taste the same here. Served too cold and not cask-conditioned. The bottled version is in a horrible clear glass bottle which guarantees that it is light-struck when you get it.
Everyday I go to the “party store” (liquor store for you non natives) I want to try something new. Yet, every time I leave with Trappist ale. It’s just so damn good in my opinion. Oaky, creamy, malty, nectar. That’s 9% nectar, made in a monastery and brewed by Monks. (The brewing is probably overseen by monks these days). What a wonderful way to support my church. Pop the cork and get some head. (go ahead and insert priest joke) Mmmmmm Chimay. Got to love being Catholic, we have to be the only religious variety that actually brews and sells beer. Man, would I love to go to Belgium one day.
