    Thoughts on snus so far

    Hey everyone,

So just posting to say what I've been going through. So far I have tried the Jakobsson's Ice Fruit, Kronan Original portion, and Phantom Classic los snus.

    Thoughts:

Jakobsson's Ice Fruit: I don't really like the flavor, at first I grew to like it but its getting odd to me, and at times there is a really bitter taste that comes out of nowhere and hits me. It makes me scared of other snus, but I know better than to assume. I also come to find I like that portions are convenient, but they just don't feel as good as los in my mouth. Also this stuff burns!! I was getting used to it, but the other snus is way easier on my throat (I can understand some burning in my lip is normal).

Kronan Original Portion: I did not expect this to be a large portion, a good thing I guess but I opened it so I could have something smaller to use when I work. But I like the taste, as opposed to other people who have said they do not like the synthetic flavor, it's not bad to me. And its pretty easy on my throat.

Phantom Classic Los: I love this stuff, I can actually feel something with this as opposed to the portions I have used. I think because of the syringe I use the shape of the snus has more contact with my gums so I can get more of what I want . It doesn't immediately begin leaking juices to my throat like Jakobsson's so I have an easier time using it.

So far I can say I like snus, however some people have things agains't me using it. All I can say is that people will always object to things they don't know much about, and I guess I have to accept it. I do many "odd" things compared to what "everyone else" is doing so I am cool. Thanks again for all the help and support!!!

    Faethwur,

If folks are against your snus use, you can always refer them to the Lancet article about the minimal dangers of snus. If they don't believe the most highly respected medical journal in the world, then I doubt there is anything that will budge them...

The Iced Fruit snus is an odd one for me, I loved it at first, but then it seemed to get more and more bitter with each portion.

I agree. At first the Jakobssen's IceFruit was a novel flavor, and I really dug it...for like two days. Then I kind of noticed that the flavoring is kind of artificial tasting and, gasp, bitter. I popped it in the freezer, and I'm a little ashamed to say, I've been trying to pawn it off on my wife.

Hey another Seattle person! People fear what they don't understand. Snus has been Scandanavia's little secret for a long time. I'm not alone in my opinion that someday, smokless tobacco use will be more common than burning chemicals and paper and inhaling such a mess into one's lungs. I have found too, that even my most open minded friends, especially those who smoke, are grossed-out and maybe even a little frightened of snus, because until Camel, they'd never heard of it. IMO Faethwur, if you like consistent flavor, try a can of Catch Eucalyptus white portion, it's not too sweet and never gets bitter.

It is bitter, but that's one of the things I like about it. All of Gotland's snus' have that character. I think that's why they're my favorite maker.
