My wife is a college educated country girl, that is far and away one of the most intelligent women I've ever known. I enjoy that she and I can have deeply philosophical conversations or do insanely funny things together. She loves theatre and fishing, looks great in lingerie and jeans and work boots. She enjoys fine dining when we go out, but whips up the best country cooking I've ever eaten, at least 4 times a week. Now, while she and I are probably of equal IQ, she (and our daughter) have an eidetic memory...which in my eyes gives her the edge in the "smarts" department, lol. Also, it makes arguing with her completely and utterly fruitless...yet I persist to no avail, and sometimes I'm even right..ahaha.
I don't feel that IQ determines what type of wife or mother a woman will be, because those are roles she assumes...just like husband and Father are roles that I assume. I'm still Rick, and she's still Amy...and we are perfect together, MOST of the time..and that's good enough for me.
EDIT:
Now, I will add that if either the husband or wife are considerably more intelligent than the other, it will present problems in the marriage. Because the smarter of the two will have to constantly dumb things down for the other, and quite possibly the dumber mate will feel as if their mate is always talking down to them. I was married to an incredibly stupid woman for 4 long years of my life. It was horrible, and near the end, I felt as if she was my oldest child, not my equal in the relationship. Quick story; It was my daughter's 2nd birthday, and she was decorating for the party while I was at work. When I got home that afternoon, she had the house looking very festive, but she was looking panicked and sad. I asked what was wrong and she said, "everything is ready, but something is wrong with the balloons". She had balloons blown up with strings tied to the chairs and other furniture around the room. So, I asked, "what do you mean, they look okay to me?" she replied, "I blew them up, but they aren't floating, they're just hanging there". It was then that I realized that we just weren't compatible, lol. I explained that only when using helium to inflate balloons will they float. We got a laugh, but that moment solidified in my mind, that we needed to move on. However, I will add that she was a wonderful mother and overall good human being. Very considerate, thoughtful and kind. Just not who I could relate to, and certainly not who I felt that I could spend the rest of my life with. So, even though she was of lower IQ, she'd make a wonderful wife to man of lesser intelligence.Last edited by rickcharles606; 21-06-14, 05:29 PM.
