Has this world gone mad or is it just me?

I never planned on collecting Social Security or needing evacuation from a distant country with a highly contagious disease..
But Hey,, I've had a good ride, gravel roads and all.
Ya never know, the day your timecard expires.. Your kid gets caught stealing Krispy Kreme donuts, Your dog hocks up your bbq offerings.
Must be a real bitch, being rich.
Oh well, maybe next life I can come back as a gang banger from Central America..

    Oh, but I DREAM..

If 30 years ago, someone had told me the country would be in as big of a mess as it is now I wouldn't have believed them.

I sit at 22 seeing that social security will be bankrupt in 20 years tops........Yet that large percentage of my paycheck is siphoned off every 2 weeks.
Move to Illinois...the only place someone working 24 hours a week can pay 12k in taxes a year.

I hate to be discouraging, but you are probably right. Social Security and Medicare have turned into Ponzi Schemes.

From irs.gov - The Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) tax includes two separate taxes. One is social security tax and the other is Medicare tax. Different rates apply for each of these taxes. The current tax rate for social security is 6.2% for the employer and 6.2% for the employee, or 12.4% total.

Then, add Federal Income Tax, State Income Tax, Property taxes, Vehicle Reg. Taxes, gasoline taxes, state sales tax, local and county sales taxes, liquor taxes, tobacco taxes, entertainment taxes, etc. etc....doesn't leave much.

I know, we are screwed regularly......my point was that TS referred to that portion of his payroll taxes that were fica as huge, when in fact it pales in comparison to so many other taxes, specifically, fica is not that much.....btw Nevada has no state income tax, so at least part of What happens in Vegas does in fact stay in Vegas, thanks for that.....

                    America

                    America, you ode for reality!
Give back the people you took.

                    Let the sun shine again
on the four corners of the world

you thought of first but do not
own, or keep like a convenience.

People are your own word, you
                    invented that locus and term.

Here, you said and say, is
                    where we are. Give back

what we are, these people you made,
us, and nowhere but you to be.

on top of that i am actually charged EXTRA tuition in the form of "student to student" fees meaning they charge me extra money and take money off of someone elses bill.

When i see the vast number of students talking about their majors in: Women's studies, library science, sports science, personal training, parks & rec and anything else that really shouldn't be considered a degree but merely only a talent in some cases, it infuriates me to know that I am being charged more so they can attend school on less.

It's not like there is an absence of predatory lenders targeting people in my age group. It's not as if these students have no means of scraping together a few more dollars from banks or jobs, but they have no need when they see someone like myself as an easy target to charge me these lame excuses for fees to make it a little bit easier for the next 4th century roman womens literature major to have an easier time at getting their degree.
