The difficult decision had to be made to have this people disappear from the earth.

The thing is Frankie, this affects us all. The UK has quite a few muslims, one of which just recently cut off somebody's head so it's gonna bite us on the arse if we don't try and stop it. That means maintaining a democratic government in Iraq at all costs. Whether you think that muslims are capable of democracy or not I don't really care as what isis are capable of which is the antithesis of democracy I think you'll find just isn't acceptable in any humane society.Last edited by alopezg1; 25-08-14, 05:33 PM.

And Muslims may or may not be capable of democracy butthat is beside the point. They manage just fine without the west either way . It is only when we decide to offer or more accurately force our ideology violently down their throats that people become radicalized and militant , fanatical and extremist . The idea that we are right and they are wrong in how they choose to live their lives is why this whole problem exists in the first place , the west has created this problem

I suppose we could arrange for the local lunatic asylum to have all the nurses and doctors walk out and lock the doors. Come back a week later and see how the in patients have organised themselves. Same thing.
There's a generally accepted version of right and wrong. Generally massacres fall on the slightly naughty side of things.

the point I am trying to make is that we the west created the lunatics by invading Iraq . I don't think being a Muslim qualifies someone as mentally ill . I don't like the way women are treated in some Muslim cultures or a number of other things, but so what? That doesn't mean we should invade the country and 'civilize' them . The reason a part of the Arab world holds the west in such contempt is because of such sanctimonious actions ; it creates and fuels the hatred until you have something like ISIS . Why stop at Iraq , Saudi Arabia has an apauling human rights record , treats women appallingly and is practices ultra conservative Islam...... oh yes that's right we will never invade Saudi Arabia because having good relations with them is far to lucrative , we invite those guys over for dinners with the president and pay them billions of dollars for their oil. There any number of places in the world where horrific crimes are being committed on a mass scale under the banner of Islam and otherwise - have you heard of a place called Africa ? - Why not there whilst we're at it?

Good points but they would bring me right back to religion being a major contributor to the insanity. Theres not enough sanity in the middle east to get talking and organise some kind of agreement between themselves for the greater good and future of their countries and the muslim religion. If islam could do this with a bit of pride and dignity Id respect it. They definately have the opportunity to do this but havent taken up the gauntlet. You can blame the US invasion as much as you like but Im not buying it.

Egyptian Feminist Poops, Menstruates on Islamic State Flag [graphic image at link]
Egyptian feminist Aliaa Magda Elmahdy, 23, challenges the strict nature of Islam on her blog and Facebook pages. She went a step further in her protest against the Islamic State (IS) with a photo of Elmahdy and a veiled woman pooping and menstruating on the black IS flag.
Arab nations did not print the photo because the flag states “there is no God but Allah.” Elmahdy did not explain why she took the photo, but she protests Islamic laws, and IS implements strict Sharia Law. Women must wear full veils and not leave the house without a male relative. The jihadists have even forced shopkeepers to fully veil all mannequins. In Raqqa, Syria, an Islamic State stronghold, a crowd stoned two women to death for allegedly committing adultery.
The majority of Muslims do not agree with IS. Several prominent Muslim leaders and scholars have condemned the terrorist group. However, not everyone agreed with Elmahdy’s photo, including fellow liberal Muslims.
In 2011, she caused outrage among strict and liberal Muslims when she posed nude in photos on her Facebook. She claimed the photos “scream against a society of violence, racism, sexism, sexual harassment and hypocrisy.” The secular Muslims did not agree.
“This hurts the entire secular current in front of those calling themselves the people of virtue,” said secularist Sayyed el-Qimni. "It's is a double disaster. Because I am liberal and I believe in the right of personal freedom, I can't interfere."

Well I would have to disagree again. And I reject the idea that governments of the west are settled upon 'a greater good for their countries' that's just naïve . At best the conservative government we have in place in this country care about a very small -rich- demographic; they couldn't give two shits abut the majority of people that reside here , and are making life notably more difficult for those in disadvantaged positions . If we were actually concerned with a greater future good for our countries we wouldn't be fracking the **** out of them and largely ignoring the advice of the majority of the scientific community in redirecting our attention and most importantly funds towards sourcing and implementing sustainable ways of living, as we are on the verge of crisis in that department. Instead what will happen is the developed countries will hag around to the very last minute in order to make as much money as possible , the so called developing countries will bare most of the brunt of the resources shortages , to begin with , eventually we'll all be ****ed . Iran manages just fine , so does Saudi Arabia , despite the fact that the latter execute people -mostly women- by stoning in public . Certainly there are no massacres in these countries , there is law and order although those laws happen to be different to ours . Then there is Indonesia , the largest Muslim country in the world , Pakistan. They won't be winning any awards from the UN any time soon but so what. Funny how the only Muslim countries that seem to in such a mess are the ones we have interfered in isn't it? Namely Afghanistan and Iraq . Then there is Syria, but they should be ok because they are run by a man who describes himself as secular and democratic..... oh wait minute , that doesn't seem to be the case. The idea that we are somehow in a privileged position to tell these people how to run their lives and their country is ridiculous ; it is a form of religious radicalism itself , essentially a crusade , this time under the name of democracy as opposed to Christianity - and I think the Christians probably had a great deal more credibilityLast edited by alopezg1; 25-08-14, 09:05 PM.

Egypt, Libya...
I agree that western values leave a lot to be desired...but just because you disagree with me I'm not going to pass a bullet from one side of your skull and out the other. This is the issue and why we're having this conversation.
It's a good talk alopezg...but where is that troll Joe?
