Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......
I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
being from San Jose, and living just a couple miles from the arena, i have to cheer for the SHARKS. THay are good. Not awesome, not great, just really REALLY good.
Same story every year. They do just fine during the normal season, make it to the playoffs, and then choke horribly.
Its at least fun knowing that while they may not ever get the cup, they can at least frustrate and slow the progress of the other teams in the NHL HAHAH!
Hockey players are real men, football (soccer) players are all a bunch of overpaid pansies who fall over if somebody so much as blows on them.
I've watched a bunch of international soccer on GolTV and Fox Soccer Network.. I *hate* diving in any sport, and as we know, it happens in the NHL too (Sean Avery, Claude Lemiuex, Alexi Kovalev, etc.) From what I've seen, the German, Italian, and some South American football leagues are big on the on-field theatrics. I hate it when the stretcher comes out to carry a player off, who's rolling around the ground like he is having a near-death experience, and then a minute later the same player is bouncing around on the sideline or back on the field.
I'll give a shot out to some pro. leagues where I've not seen much diving -- the English Premiership and our own MLS. The players play hard and it seems like diving isn't as acceptable as it might be elsewhere. I think the Spanish "elite" league (whatever it's called) is also pretty good.
