    Some red meat for his home team, looks like. It doesn't really matter much, even if by some chance it isn't pure baloney. Scandinavians 'discovered' land in the Western Hemisphere even earlier. Columbus is significant because his visitation/invasion/exploitation kicked off the beginning of lasting European influence in the New World. The technology and infrastructure just weren't ready anywhere before.

    Still an amusing glimpse into Turkish politics, and mostly interests me to see Erdogan saying what he must judge to be the politically correct things to ingratiate himself with the religious folks at home. Turkey had been known as a solidly secular state (at least government-wise), but the times, they are a-changing. ...
