US Reopens diplomatic relations with Cuba!

Officials said they would re-establish an embassy in Havana and carry out high-level exchanges and visits between the two governments within months. Mr. Obama will send an assistant secretary of state to Havana next month to lead an American delegation to the next round of talks on Cuban-American migration. The United States will also begin working with Cuba on issues like counternarcotics, environmental protection and human trafficking.

Mr. Obama will also allow greater banking ties and raise the level of remittances allowed to be sent to Cuban nationals to $2,000 every three months from the current limit of $500. Intermediaries forwarding remittances will no longer require a specific license from the government. American travelers will also be allowed to import up to $400 worth of goods from Cuba, including up to $100 in tobacco and alcohol products.

As soon as ferry service from the Keys to Cuba begins, I know I will be going. Visiting Cuba has been on my bucket list for a very long time.

I have many friends that have been there over the years and recently. Some parts are already americanized. Those upper class Cubans who have the bucks watch the Miami TV stations and listen to our radio stations. Other parts of the nation are so poor you would think you were in a third world country. From what I've been told, the 1950's American cars are really amazing to see.

I'll wait until I see Cubans in Miami eagerly blowing up inner tubes for a trip back to Havana.

Anyone else notice that Byron magically appeared on SnusCentral's website like 24 hours before this was announced?

Snus made from Cuba tobacco is good... but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. There are some better snuses out there that do not come form Cuban tobacco. Now, rum soaked Cuban cigars is another matter. My favs for those are all private lable Cuban.
