That is a waste of tax money for that study. Americans are fond of sugar and deep fried everything and the biggest hobby has to be watching television.

Democrats Move to Strike “Husband” and “Wife” From Federal Law

Wasting little time, Democrats in Congress are already proposing legislation to replace the words “husband” and “wife” in the federal code with gender-neutral language reflective of the Supreme Court’s June 26 pronouncement that married couples in the United States need no longer consist of a male and a female.
On July 8, Representative Lois Capps (D-Calif.) introduced the Amend the Code for Marriage Equality Act, which she said in a press release “would strike the use of gendered terms such as ‘husband’ and ‘wife’ from the federal code and replace them with more gender-neutral terms, such as ‘spouse’ or ‘married couple.’”

People are now talking about the US and Iran winning a joint Nobel Peace Prize

OSLO (Reuters) - A nuclear deal clinched between Iran and six major world powers that caps more than a decade of negotiations has stoked talk of a joint Nobel Peace Prize for Tehran and Washington this year, despite the likelihood of strong objections from some quarters.
U.S. President Barack Obama, who won the prize in 2009 for promoting nuclear non-proliferation, hailed the Iran deal on Tuesday as a step towards a "more hopeful world". But Israel pledged to try to halt an "historic surrender".
Awarding the prestigious award to Washington and Tehran would fit a pattern of nuclear-themed peace prizes in years ending in '5', commemorating the bombings of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.
"I think the work of the Nobel Committee ... this year just got much easier," former Swedish prime minister Carl Bildt tweeted after the Iranian deal was announced.
But many doubts remain over the appropriateness of honoring Iran, which does not recognize Israel and backs its foes, faces regular international criticism over human rights and was long denounced by Washington as a member of an "axis of evil".

As Pentagon mulls ending ban, transgender soldiers talk about serving country openly (+video)

With an estimated 15,000 transgender soldiers now serving throughout the US military, Secretary of Defense Ash Carter on Monday called the military's ban 'outdated' and 'confusing.'
When Kristin Beck was a Navy SEAL for 20 years, and known as a fighter named Christopher, her transgender identity was “maybe third or fourth or fifth down the list of things that were concerning me.”
A decorated veteran of seven combat missions and a member of the famed special counterterrorism unit SEAL Team Six, Ms. Beck was part of the one of the most elite fighting forces in the world, the “toughest of the tough,” the former senior chief says, before leaving the Navy in 2011.
“My primary concern was service to my country, to defend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, to defend my nation,” says Beck. “At the time, the more important objective was service to the country, and so I was able to put aside my own personal gender struggle.”(continued)

Drag Queens Banned From Pride Event 'Because They May Offend Transgender People'
                  Evening Standard (U.K.)

Drag queens have been banned from performing at a Pride event in case they offend transgender people.
Organisers of Free Pride Glasgow, which bills itself as an 'anti-commercialist' alternative to the Scottish city's main Pride event, have announced the controversial ban.
Despite the fact that drag queens have been closely associated with Pride celebrations for most of their history, they will not be allowed to appear at the event next month in case they cause offence.
A statement from the organisers said: “After much discussion, the trans and non binary caucus decided not to have drag acts perform at the event.
“This does not mean that people of any gender can’t wear what they want to the event, we simply won’t be having any self-described drag acts perform at our Free Pride Event on August 22. "
It added: "We hope people can understand and support our decision. However we feel it important to fully explain why we came this decision.
“The decision was taken by transgender individuals who were uncomfortable with having drag performances at the event. It was felt that it would make some of those who were transgender or questioning their gender uncomfortable."
The organisers of the main Pride Glasgow event said they understood the rationale behind the decision, but the banning of drag acts was "against what an inclusive event should be about."
The organisers told Pink News: “Pride Glasgow believes that any community group should be given their place to flourish but that success should not be built on the negativity and ignorance towards other events, groups and like minded people and we are saddened to see that this is the direction that Free Pride has chosen to take.”

Teenager falls from 100ft cliff, survives, then is bitten by snake

A teenager has survived after falling 100ft off a cliff then being bitten by a venomous snake at the bottom.
Brock Leach, 14, tumbled over a cliff edge and bounced off outcroppings and rocks during his descent - before landing on a ledge.
But as he tried to clamber to safety before the tide came in Brock suddenly felt a sharp pain in the hand he'd been using to help pull himself along.
He was horrified to discover he had been bitten by an adder - the only native venomous snake in the UK.
The fall was witnessed by his brother Josh, 16, who rushed to his aid and tried to get him to higher ground.
                    [SNIP]
Mrs Leach, who also has two other sons, Oliver, 19, and Samuel, 18, heard the rescue helicopter from their home while she was speaking to her husband Dean, 43, online from Vietnam, where he is working as an ocean exploration scientist.
But she had no idea her sons were involved until Josh arrived home a short while later accompanied by a coastguard.
The incident took place at the clifftop at Trebarwith Strand on Sunday when it is believed Brock slipped on some lichen.
Josh said he saw him fall and, despite being frightened and shocked himself, went to his brother's rescue, scrambling down the steep incline to reach Brock's side.
He said: "He was still conscious and talking, I got him out of the way to a higher ledge because the sea was coming in. I said to stay there, but he wanted to go with me."

Group takes a shovel to Confederate General’s grave

A group was fed up with waiting, so they got a shovel and dug up a patch of grass next to Nathan Bedford Forrest’s grave and statue in a public park in the Medical District.
The group says they wanted the statue and remains removed for a long time, because he was a Confederate soldier, a KKK leader and a slave trader.
“If he’s gone, some of this racism and race-hate might be gone,” said Isaac Richmond with Commission on Religion and Racism. ” We got a fresh shovel full, and we hope that everybody else will follow suit and dig him up.”
“They can protest all they want. Just because they don’t like it, doesn’t mean they are right. Digging up the park is just pure and simple vandalism,” said Lee Millar, the spokesperson for the Forrest family and Sons of Confederate Veterans.
He said every person who held onto that shovel broke the law today.
                      “That’s plain vandalism,” he said.
“We really don’t want to make this a confrontation. We just want to say hey, we want to get on with it!” said Richmond.
The City Council agreed to move the statue and the remains.
Now state law requires the Tennessee Historical Commission to sign off.
The issue will have to go before the Chancery Court as well.
The group told WREG if the process took too long, the could take more drastic measures.
“We are going to bring the back hoe, the tractors and the men with the equipment to raise Bedford Forrest from the soil of Memphis,” said Richmond.

                          July 28, 2015

                          SUBJECT: Adult Leadership Standards Update

                          Dear Members of the Laurel Highlands Council;

Along with the rest of the Scouting family, we have been reflecting on the challenges facing the Boy Scouts of America and potential ways to address them—primarily regarding adult leadership standards. Our primary focus has always been on serving America’s youth and providing the best program possible to our members. Our mission has not changed.

The BSA National Executive Board recently voted to ratify a resolution amending the adult leadership standards. Effective immediately, chartered organizations are able to select adult volunteer leaders without regard to sexual orientation, continuing Scouting’s longstanding policy of chartered organizations selecting their leaders. This change allows Scouting’s members and parents to select local units, chartered to organizations with similar beliefs, that best meet the needs of their families. This change also respects the right of religious chartered organizations to choose adult volunteer leaders whose beliefs are consistent with their own. It is important to note that the 2013 youth membership policy is not affected by this decision and remains unchanged.

Moving forward, Scouting will continue to focus on reaching and serving youth, helping them grow into good, strong citizens. By focusing on the goals that unite us, we are able to accomplish incredible things for young people and the communities we serve.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss this policy change, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 412.325.7979 or sharon.moulds@scouting.org. You can also follow this link http://scoutingnewsroom.org/blog/boy-scouts-of-america-amends-adult-leadership-policy/ to hear the important message from Dr. Gates on the adult leadership policy change and read his remarks or visit Scouting.org for more information on our policies.

Thank you again for your support.

Drunk Swiss Man Tied Up on Flight to Bangkok
                            The Local ^

Passengers on a flight from Zurich to Bangkok were forced to tie up a drunk Swiss man who caused a fracas during the journey.
The incident occurred on the TG971 Thai Airways flight on Sunday, Swiss daily Blick reported on Wednesday.
Passengers on the flight told the paper that at around 11.30pm the Swiss, seated at the rear of the aircraft, started to cause a fuss.
Members of the cabin crew tried to calm him, but the man, who was obviously drunk, became aggressive and insulted staff and passengers.
“Like a madman he climbed over the seats, regardless of whether passengers were sitting in them or not. Children and women screamed in horror,” one witness told Blick.
Passengers forced him back to his seat, but the Swiss refused to stay there, so in a final, effective attempt to restrain him, they tied up his hands and feet.
The drunkard remained in that state for the remaining six hours of the flight, until he was delivered to Thai police on landing in Bangkok.
Three passengers were slightly injured in the incident, which was confirmed to Blick by Thai Airways spokesperson Boonroek Suppamitkitsana

                              * School insists answers are voluntary and not included in decision-making
                              * The college also introduced gender-neutral bathrooms across campus in 2014
                              _______________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________ __________
Beginning this year, students applying to University of California will pick from male, female, trans male, trans female, gender queer/gender non-conforming and different identity.
School officials said that the change aims to make the application process more inclusive for people who define themselves outside the traditional gender brackets.
President of the UC system, Janet Napolitano, said: ‘UC is working hard to ensure our campuses model inclusiveness and understanding.
‘I’m proud of the work we’ve done so far, but it doesn’t stop there. We much continue to look at where we can improve so everyone at US feels respected and supported.’
Students at the school are delighted by the change.
‘I feel like this is just a way of including everyone,’ student Augustine Pimentel told CBS Los Angeles. ‘I don’t mind; everybody do what they want. I don’t want to judge people,’ added Nizar Hakim.
Donna Taqawi said: ‘I feel like people should have their freedom to be called what they want to be called.’

Navy to Charge Officer Who Fired on Islamist During Chattanooga Terror Attack

Navy Lt. Commander will reportedly be charged for shooting at Chattanooga terrorist white chattanooga
Lt Commander Timothy White and Islamist killer Muhammad Abdulazeez
A report at The Navy Times in July confirmed that one of the Marines shot during the Chattanooga terrorist attack exchanged fire with the terrorist. Navy Lt. Cmdr Timothy White also shot back at the terrorist.
But rather than being celebrated as a hero, Lt. Commander White may be charged for discharging a firearm on federal property. Allen West reported this week that Lt. Commander Timothy White
Ladies and gents, resulting from the text message I received yesterday, I can confirm that the United States Navy is bringing charges against Lt. Cmdr Timothy White for illegally discharging a firearm on federal property.
The text message asked if it would be possible for Lt.Cmdr White to reach out to me. To wit I replied, affirmative.
What kind of freaking idiots are in charge of our Armed Forces — pardon me, our “unArmed Forces”? What would they prefer that Abdulazeez had been able to kill all the Marines and Sailors at the Naval Support Reserve Center? Let me draw an interesting contrast: Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus is more concerned about lifting the ban on transgendered Sailors. Mabus has a problem in that for the first time since 2007 the US Navy will not have a Carrier Battle Group operating in the Persian Gulf. But this knucklehead has no problem with the Navy seeking to destroy the career of a Sailor, a commander of an installation, returning fire against an Islamic jihadist attack. I do not care if it was his personal weapon, he deserves a medal for facing the enemy.
